I stayed 1 night/2 days during the Essence Music Festival in Houston. This is a fabulous hotel, simply lovely, where do I start. The lobby was great, lovely pieces of art yet very welcoming with seating nearby to enjoy it all. I had a very large room with extremely comfortable double beds -- lovely bathroom also. The pool and patio get 5 stars! The gym also! Sure, had to pay $6.00 to use the gym but you get a headset to watch cable TV right at your cardio machine while you're working out, while also enjoying the view of the city! I didn't go to the spa, but the prices did not look terribly unreasonable. The hotel shuttle will take you anyplace within a 5 mile radius and also pick you up. We ate at the Aquarium Restaurant (another must see!). Exceptional staff were eager to please and always greeted with a smile and hello. Most notable were the friendly lady at check, the charming young woman at the desk for the spa and gym areas, the bartender, the clerk in the gift shop and the shuttle driver who gave us a detailed tour of downtown while on the drive back to the hotel. Only small points of disappointment: You have to pay for Internet service ($10), no robes in the room and there was no one to take our bags upon check in. Those minor things did not mar an otherwise lovely stay at a hotel that I am definitely visiting again -- and soon! In closing, Houston treated Essence guests very well!

I just returned from a two-day stay at the Hilton Americas. The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are immaculate. BUT the service truly stinks!

I travel often and I have stayed at all classes of hotels, and I can truly say that I have not stayed at a hotel that cares less about their customers than the Hilton Americas. From the time that I arrived until I left, I encountered unbelievably bad service (though there were a couple of exceptions, I must say). My bad experiences with the staff are too numerous to detail, and honestly, one such infraction would have been tolerable. But the service was consistently bad that it made my experience intolerable. For example, on my first night there, I ordered room service. The server arrived and informed me that I had to pay cash because I did not have a credit card on file. I explained to her that I indeed had a credit card number on file, as the person at the check-in counter had swiped my card with no problem. The server told me not to worry about it and that she would just charge the dinner to my room. Hours pass by, and I went to sleep. I was awakened by the same server who knocked on my door and insisted that I pay cash, saying that her manager made her come back. She refused to leave until I called to front desk to verify that I had a card on file, which I did. She said that she did not want to walk down there to do it herself!

Like I said, I cannot detail all of the service infractions that I witnessed (or this would turn into a book). But one thing angered me beyond words. The same night that I was harrassed by the room service waiter about my bill, I was again awakened by an unbearable noise (as soon as I got back to sleep!). I can't even describe it except to say that I cannot imagine that any human being could sleep through such noise. It went on for about a half hour and finally I called the guest services hotline to see what the problem was. After the guest services representative found out that I was on othe Sixth Floor, she told me that the noise was the "pipes." I asked her how long it would last, and she said, in a very matter of fact manner, that she had never received calls from guests about the noise after 11:30! I believe that to be a lie because the next night, I was awakened at 3:30 a.m. by the same noise! I called the front desk and told the person who answered that management should be ashamed and that I have never stayed at a hotel that cares less about their guests. He simply said in a very uncaring tone that he would pass my comments along. I did not get any more sleep that night.

I usually only care about the cleanliness of hotels, so I am usually pretty easy to please. But my stay at the Hilton Americas taught me that we as customers should demand much more than that for the prices that we pay. Or we should just take our business elsewhere, which is what I will do the next time that I'm in Houston (I go there often). For those of you looking for a hotel in Houston, the ICON is much nicer than the Hilton and the service is impeccable, which is why it is ranked so much higher than the Hilton (the prices are comparable too).

I stayed 4 nights as part of a convention. I can highly recommand this hotel. The rooms are large, beautiful and live up to the highest standard. The staff is exceptional, we need 8 large boxed brought to the convention center. No problem, shipping and bell desk very helpful and efffecient- I have stayed in other hotels and this is often a sticky point, incuding missing shipments or short on staff- not so at the Hilton Americas. Everyone is very friendly in goiing out of their way to make your stay comfortable.

The hotel is very new and big. All areas incuding lobby and restaurants, meeting rooms and ballroom are modern with tasteful funishings and great design and quality. The hotel caters to business travelers and offers highspeed intenet, pool and a nice exercise facility.

If you're in Houston on business you want to stay here!

A local Houstonian that stayed here for one night in March 2006. Basically an "in-town getaway" for us as we just wanted to stay in a place near the downtown activities. We found a weekend rate of under $100/night on Hotwire which got us to book here. If there's not any major events at Toyota Center you should be able to find a good rate here.

Overall, was very impressed with this hotel, and that's after staying in a couple of the nicer Houston hotels. Furnishings were immaculate, service was stellar, and the hotel's bar and lobby area were extremely well done. Despite our Hotwire booking, the hotel staff was willing to give us the room request we asked for. Parking was very convienient and relatively inexpensive too. It was nice that the hotel had both valet and non-valet options available. The lobby was peaceful and quiet as well - a departure from many other downtown Houston hotels on the weekend. You can walk to the Toyota Center, Minute Maid Park, and downtown Houston clubs/restaurants from here or just take a very short cab ride.

This was a nice clean well kept hotel, the room was not huge but very clean and well done. The room service for food is not up to par the selection is Very Limited you have about maybe 10 choices for dinner?Nice place though a littl espendy on the room service an 19 percent manditory gratuity to room service + 3.00 per person with a burger running 12.00 minimum plus all these fees. There was also 5.50 bottles of water if your into that!
