My husband and I loved the overall decor of the lobby and rooms. The lobby is wonderful! Everything was very up to date and modern, I believe that this must be a fairly new hotel? The beds, linens, comforter, etc were terrific, practically posh. The bathroom was nice, water pressure was very good. Bath was well stocked w/toiletries. There is a mini bar provided. The location of the hotel is more towards the edge of downtown, however it was not very far from highways. Also, there were places to eat within walking distance. However, if you go there carless the hotel provides a free shuttle in the downtown area that drops off and picks up. Addtionally, there is a trolley that travels through downtown, I believe it was free.

If you are into Jazz I recommend the Red Kat Jazz Club, it is downtown however not sure of the address. I'm sure that concierge can provide that information.

For Breakfast I recommend the Breakfast Klub, again ask concierge for informaton. This place was awesome! Great Southern Style Breakfast featuring Catfish and Grits, Chicken and Waffles, Pancakes, etc. There is usually a line to get in but don't let it deter you as it moves fairly fast.

Also, check out the bar/lounge on the top floor of the hotel, you get great drinks and a spectatcular view of downtown as well.

All in all I highly recommend this hotel.

A friend and I spent 3 nights at the Hilton Americas in March. This is a fabulous hotel with wonderful amenities! The indoor pool with outdoor terrace are not to be missed. The pool is on the 24th floor and enclosed with glass. Go at night for a great view of downtown Houston and while your there have a drink a the Sky Bar. The hotel provides a shuttle until 11pm. The staff was friendly and willing to assist when needed. I would definitely recommend this hotel and plan on staying again soon.

Stayed one night in late February and all in all a nice hotel. It has a retro exterior, but nice nontheless. The lobby was very classy and upscale. The hallways on the floors were not as upscale as you would expect, but the rooms were nice, especially at $50.00 a night via Priceline. The hotel parking garage has a skybridge to it and charges $12.00 a day.

Lovely hotel with triple sheeting and down blankets instead of bedspreads and regular blankets...nice!! Real wine glasses in room was a nice touch. Only problem was we had no hot water. Every evening Engineering would come up and fix it, but it only lasted for a couple of hours and then was just tepid again. Got our reservation through Priceline, and the check-in guy made it very clear that we would get NO extras with our Hilton Honors number because we had used Priceline. Concierges were very helpful.
Parking lot diagonally across from the hotel only charges $4 day....far better than Hilton's parking prices!!

I took my daughter for an overnight at the Hilton Americas for her birthday. The lobby is where the beauty ends. It took 30 minutes to check in because the reception desk is poorly staffed and the reservation was wrong. They tried to give me a higher rate than the one quoted when I made the reservation. Then the bellhop delivered the wrong bags. After two more calls and 35 minutes, our bags arrived.

We enjoyed the pool and the views from the top floor.

Although I had booked a no-smoking suite, clearly someone had been smoking up a storm in this teeny-tiny "suite." Actually a room with two twin beds (they call double beds - they aren't double beds) connected to a living room. Tiniest rooms I've ever seen in any hotel. When I called to ask about the no-smoking room, "Chris" at the front desk said they "can't control who smokes in their rooms." As teeny-tiny as the rooms are, I suspect if the smoke detectors work, they would go off in that little space with cigarettes burning.

The staff in "the Cafe" was very sweet, but the food was grossly overpriced and fair at best. They charged me for a piece of "complimentary" birthday cake....

When I got up in the morning, there was a bill for the second rate quoted under the living room door, and another for yet another price under the bedroom door!! When I called the desk and told them that the price was quoted to me originally was one price for the suite - not charged individually. The girl at the front desk asked me what "proof" I had that this was the original rate quoted!

The front desk needs to go through some training - they appear mad and defensive, not to mention zero friendliness. This is clearly a convention hotel - NOT the place to go for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Even thought I hear business is poor at this hotel, it appears from staff attitudes that business is good - that they can afford to loose a few customers. They lost this one and I hope no one else will stay there unless they have to - it is an overpriced Motel 6 with a lovely lobby and teeny-tiny smokey rooms that the rates change by the minute on. Stay anywhere but here!!!!!!
