“Not bad for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

I had an overall good stay. The location of the hotel can't be beat. The lobby bar staff is mediocore. Not friendly or welcoming at all. The drinks and food were just ok. I ordered some wings and they were dry like they had been in the freezer too long or overcooked. Room service was pretty good as we had breakfast in bed. My room was clean but I could hear some hallway noise when people walked by talking. For the price I paid, I gave this hotel an extra star and I would return again.

This is a big, really big, busy conference hotel. Despite the size, the service felt personal. Every staff member was pleasant. The hotel is lovely and the conference spaces are excellent. Clean room and comfy bed. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

Visited for a conference. Easy access to George R. Brown convention center. The skywalk is a significant reason to choose this hotel over others in the area. Pleasant stay. Nothing extraordinary but nothing to complain about. Would recommend to others.

Service was excellent and a beautiful hotel. However, we were disturbed late at night by security and I felt we were not treated well as guests. I would recommend it for beauty and staff, but no one wants to get called in the middle of the night and have their safe unlocked for a recent visitor!

I stayed at the Hilton Americas for several days to attend a convention. The conference space was fabulous. I have attended many conferences, and this hotel had the best set up with so much additional space outside of the conference rooms for meeting and collaborating with colleagues. You just don't see that at most hotels that host conferences.

Despite a very large conference with thousands of attendees, I never had a wait at the on site restaurant. The food was very good from both the menu and from the buffet (I had the lunch buffet), and the prices were average for a hotel chain. There aren't many restaurant options around the area on the weekend - which the conference ran over the weekend. There is a nearby mall but it closes down early, so you're left with an organic new age restaurant or a nearby bar and grill that always had too long of a wait when I tried it. The hotel does have a coffee bar on site, and people did line up for the coffee bar - but the line moved very quickly every time. The coffee bar made great coffee drinks and was great for quick breakfast foods too.

I made use of the exercise room, which was spacious and well equipped. Water is provided along with disposable ear buds for guests' convenience. The pool looked inviting, but I was not able to use it because there were always groups of young adults roughhousing in there when I went up to use it (not the hotel's fault). Beyond the pool area is an outdoor terrace seating area that is beautiful at night.

I stayed in a standard king guestroom and the staff was excellent at keeping the rooms and the common areas very clean. The bed was very comfortable and there was a larger desk than most hotels offer. There were adequate charging outlets around the desk. The bathroom was clean and roomy. The only thing that the room didn't have that I had expected was an in-room safe, but that's not worth dinging them on the rating when everything else was perfect.

The "value" is marked "average" because, while I was able to take advantage of a block room rate - the usual rate is very high. Higher than comparable quality hotels that I have stayed in within the past year in other major US cities. Similarly, I only give location a four because it is great if you're destination is Minute Maid Park, but otherwise you have no where to go.

Room Tip: There is a very large lobby and connected lounge area, so you may want to opt for a room on a higher...

In the heart of downtown Houston, this hotel just can't be beat! On a house hunting trip we stayed here for a night (and were generously upgraded to a very large suite!) and took advantage of all this amazing hotel has to offer! With access to the Executive Suite, we enjoyed a wonderful happy hour complete with tasty hors d'oeuvres and stunning views of the city! Although the drinks were a bit on the expensive side ($10 for a call brand mixed drink?!), it was definitely worth it with the delicious food, spacious suite and friendly environment! Don't miss the beautiful pool and hot tub with adjoining outside veranda on the rooftop overlooking the city!! Comfy lounge chairs make for a very nice place to relax after a swim or dinner! Everyone from the staff who greeted us, to the bartenders, and even the front desk personnel were incredibly hospitable! As a Hilton Honors member I've stayed many a night at other Hilton properties, and this one by far is the best one yet!
Special kudos to Front Office Manager Karla M. de Leon--THANK YOU so much such a lovely stay! Can't wait to go back!!!

Room Tip: Don't miss the pool, hot tub and outside veranda on the 24th floor!

Great location, nice room, nice pool and nice staff. I was there for a convention but took the family along and we all enjoyed it. Loved that the hotel (and parking area) gave easy access to the convention center. While I was working, the family had a great time exploring Discovery Green and the downtown area.

While I have stayed at fancier hotels, this one fit all our needs and expectations. Totally satisfied and would definitely stay there again.

Bonus: great views of Houston at night!
