Courtyard properties are so similar it's hard to to pick out distinguishing features, but the notable things about this one are its location in an older building and the friendly, upbeat attitude of the staff. My room and bathroom were a bit smaller than average, but had nice, high ceilings and a huge window. The bed seemed a little worn down but comfortable, with nice linens. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and threw in a few nice touches like a bag of chocolates at check-in. The pasta I ordered from room service was well above average--hot and nicely seasoned, with fresh grated cheese and a crisp salad. The same food is available from the lobby cafe, which you'll likely need since nothing in downtown Houston is open after 5:00 PM. If you insist on walking the creepy, deserted streets in search of food, make sure you ask the front desk for a destination first. You're unlikely to find anything on your own.
