“Perfect hotel- perfect location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

We stayed at the Magnolia this weekend and had a wonderful stay! The hotel was exactly what we wanted. The location was in perfect walking distance to many downtown locations. We had great food and cocktails at Hearsay and Mia Bellas. And were able to walk to several bars! We stayed in a King Suite and plan on coming back soon The pool area has an excellent view!

I stayed here to attend a wedding down the street. It was an absolutely wonderful stay. I normally have trouble sleeping away from home at least the first night however, the bed was so comfortable that I had no issues. Everyone was so friendly from the front desk clerk to the bartenders, it made our stay very enjoyable. The included continental breakfast made the hotel price a bargain. I will definitely be back to stay again for a long weekend and try some of the other included amenities.

Room Tip: I asked for a quiet room and I was placed in a room at the end of the hall. I would say my room was...

We stayed at the Magnolia to celebrate our anniversary. It was very nice. Loved the room and bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. The view out the window was less than scenic. Our room looked over a building no longer in use. Only MAJOR problem was the doors to the rooms. They are the type that close automatically and SLAM very loud if you don't hold on to them. It was a constant source of noise the entire time we were there. My husband went to the rooftop pool and enjoyed the view.

The room service menu was very limited. We ended up going out to dinner. The breakfast that is included with the price of the room was just OK.

Not a bad hotel, but not up to par for the price.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that overlooks the skyline, not the back of the hotel.

A nice quaint boutique hotel located in the heart of downtown Houston, Texas. The rooms are sufficient size for two with smallish bathrooms. Parking is tough with voice of valet or a lot offsite. Valet was difficult at times. They ask you to text them prior to accessing the valet stand but never seemed to have received a text and we still had to request our vehicle when we arrived at the stand. The front desk folks were very polite, helpful, and patient. It was prom night and there were a couple wedding parties in house. Upon arrival we received our card key and upon arriving at our room we were met with an extreme leak coming out of the ceiling over the shower. We were given another room quickly. The views are not so good as the area of downtown Houston is tired and in need of quite a bit of urban renewal. Our hotel price included a happy hour, cookie hour, and a breakfast buffet and all were good.

From the friendly and helpful front door crew, to the front desk efficiency to a well appointed room, everything's felt just right. The second flora lounge/bar was great for meetings, which our group made use of several times throughout our stay. it also had a very well done buffet breakfast.
If you have the time and inclination the rooftop pool, although small, is a perfect little getaway, with very few people ever getting past the very well equipped workout facility, to hang out at the pool. the Magnolia is also only about 3 blocks from MinuteMaid Park, an easy walk no matter the time of day or night to take in a ball game, too bad the home team isn't as good as the hotel!!
The room I stayed in was a good size, comfortable and quiet.
Only two very minor negatives, as with so many tropical climate locations, there is a lingering smell which luckily is contained to the main floor. The other thing was the meal serive in the lounge, which seemed to take a very long time considering there were only 4 of us and it was 1145 AM when we put in our order.
I will stay there any time business takes me to Houston, this place does everything right.

I am extremely picky when it comes to choosing hotels. I love the Magnolia hotel. It is clean, roomy, and comfortable. It has many added perks, but for me, the cleanliness and courteousness of the staff is what keeps me coming back. No matter where I need to be in Houston, I will stay at the Magnolia. The valet service is top notch. From the minute you drive up to the second you leave, you feel as though the hotel is just for you. The friendliness and guest service they have is impeccable. I love the thick curtains in the room that keep it nice and dark as well as the comfortable beds. I could go on and on about this hotel. You will not be disappointed staying at this hotel.

My husband and I stayed here for a date night and to be close to Minute Maid Park for an Astros game the next day. We arrived later than expected so we missed the evening amenities. Front desk personnel were very courteous and pleasant. Our room was clean and comfortable. We were disappointed that we could not eat in the restaurant because it was closed for a private event. There was a small room off the lobby that was set up for drinks/eating but it was not very inviting. Overall this is a very nice hotel and we will definitely stay here again.
