“Excellent value!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

We stayed two nights at the Magnolia in downtown Houston on St. Patricks Day Weekend. Despit the fact that it was "Spring Break" and the hotel was full of young teens and pre-teens, the staff maintained a clean and relatively quiet atmosphere. We enjoyed the free "Happy Hour" drinks, milk and cookies (we had coffee) in the evening, and the complimentary breakfast (full breakfast in a comfortable atmosphere). We used the fitness equipment on the top floor and the rooftop pool. Our room was comfortable witha view and the common areas were very well maintained. The staff was friendly, helpful and they appeared happy. The hotel is close to restaurants and the Toyota Centre, but downtown Houston was "dead" when we were there. We did not use the valet parking but a parking lot adjacent to the hotel managed by the church directly across from the hotel. Valet parking was $24 per day. We parked for $8 a day and it was fairly close and locked after 11:00 p.m.
We could not have asked for a better stay! We are very very satisfied with our choice of Hotel.

Room Tip: Texas street view best

We stayed at the Magnolia during a recent weekend visit and were very pleased with every aspect of our stay. Every member of the staff was friendly, courteous, and helpful. Our room was immaculate, and the bed was heavenly. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer and enjoy the lounge, the exercise room, and the other amenities. We will definitely be staying at the Magnolia on all future visits to Houston.

The Magnolia is the best boutique hotel in Houston. We've stayed at just about every boutique hotel in Houston but we keep going back to The Magnolia. Accommodations are excellent - the suites offer plenty of room so you don't feel cramped. The staff is always courteous & helpful. The downtown location is close to everything - convention center, baseball park, theater district, aquarium.. And not to mention, the best "bedtime" cookies in Houston! We've been there many times over the last 5 years & have yet to be disappointed. And we'll keep going back!

We just had another wonderful stay at the Magnolia Houston. We went to the symphony Saturday night and stayed in town overnight. This is our fourth stay at the Magnolia...and we love it! The rooms are so nice and the bed linens luxurious. The whole ambience is relaxing and upscale. The location in downtown Houston is very convenient if you are attending a concert or a sporting event. There are many restaurants within 5 miles...we went to restaurant in the Upper Westheimer area...only 2 miles away. The breakfast buffet provides everything you could want. The rooftop Terrace and pool is a favorite feature. It offers a beautiful of view of Houston at night.

We attended a wedding at the Rice Hotel and stayed at the Magnolia. Rooms were nicely done and it was nice that they kept the historical building in such good shape! The free breakfast was one of the best ones I have ever had in a hotel! They had everything from eggs, bacon and sausage and potatoes to waffles and pancakes, cereal and fruit! The room was very large and had ample enought space to provide sitting areas. The lobby area was well done and there was a nice little happy hour at the lobby bar.

I recently stayed at Magnolia Hotel on business and was not impressed. I had a less than pleasant experience checking in (very rude front desk staff) and my room was musty and the hallways smelled like smoke. Also, while the lobby is trendy/updated, the rooms are very tired and not super clean. I highly doubt I'll ever return.

My husband and I just stayed for our anniversary and overall had a great time! The lobby is nice and the woman who checked us in was really nice. Our room was nice but the view from the window was not. We had a view of an abandoned building and a parking garage.....not what I would want to look at. The view out the windows during the cookies and milk bar and breakfast was really nice! The cookies and milk were my favorite thing!!!

Biggest problem with the room was getting it to cool off to a comfortable temperature to sleep. The vent was not located in a good spot as it blew more into the bathroom than the bedroom. We would definitely stay herea again though!

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking Texas Ave. The view will be much nicer!!
