“A cool boutique hotel in the downtown area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2012

Stay here recently for the Coldplay concert at the Toyota Center. It is within walking distance and actually had a shuttle to take you there. It is also very close to Minute Maid Field. Stay here if you would like something modern and chic. The decor is modern and clean. The room was a reasonable size. The beds were OK. The bath and shower were nice. The AC worked well to keep us cool in the heat of the Houston's summer! They served a nice breakfast that came with the room that included eggs, waffles, bacon, hashbrowns, cereal, juice, coffee. For bedtime there were cookies and milk available. The only downside was the loud elevator music that is played around the clock in the dining area. One should bring their swimsuit to take a swim in the rooftop pool and also their workout gear for a well equipped gym. Would stay here again.

The site is dirty, poorly equipped and the sir smells musty when you run the air conditioner. The breakfast is awful. I could go on and on but just donot waste your time. So many others to choose from. I also, pre-paid, big mistake and could not leave early which I tried to do.

Room Tip: Don't stay here

My husband and I stayed one night at the Magnolia Hotel and we wished we could've stayed longer. The hotel is beautiful and modern and our room was spotless. Location is excellent, in the heart of the city, so valet parking was a plus. We weren't able to make the happy hour, but bedtime milk and cookies were a fun perk! Breakfast was included in the price and we were satisfied with variety and taste. Our only complaint would be that there aren't enough elevators for a hotel of the Magnolia's size, but that's not really something that is easily fixed. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay- the price is hard to beat, especially with all of the wonderful amenities.

We stayed Friday through Sunday and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is artistic and fashionable and the rooms are very comfortable and clean. Valet is quick, everyone is courteous but what's really cool is that Magnolia provides complementary drinks in the evening to all hotel guests everyday of the week. This is by far one of the best hotels in Houston and I would definitely recommend it anyone looking for a classy upscale hotel. Regards....Phil

We booked through Expedia. We were able to check in early without an issue at all. The location was convenient (walking distance to many bars/restaurants). The room was clean, quiet and modern. The lobby and hotel bar were fantastic, very impressive. Did not make use of the pool/workout facility but it was available and the rooftop pool offered views of the city. Valet service was $25/day (in-and-out with fast, polite service). The highlight was the breakfast. Full hot breakfast buffet...easily a $10-15/person value.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms give a good view.

I liked this boutique hotel. It had nice touches such as the shuttle service, cookies in the evenings and a really good breakfast. The rooftop pool looked quite nice and I liked the pool table etc. It could be a bit friendlier and livelier though.
