“Opera in the Heights”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

Saw Macbeth here on my first outing. Thought it was superb. I sat in the last row in the balcony ... the seat was perfect. Will return in April for Falstaff. Logistically, attending Opera in the Heights is a great experience. First of all, the locale is a pleasure. Beautiful Heights Boulevard. Historic Lambert Hall. A pleasure to be at that venue. In this intimate theatre, I had close encounters with the management of the opera, the singers, the musicians, the volunteers, the patrons: I enjoyed these people.

“Very Enjoying”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

I took my mom here for a performance last Dec, as she is an opera buff and I wanted to do something different. Lambert Hall is very small and we sat in the last row for $25 a seat. The views were great (really, we were in the last row and it felt like we were extremely close to the stage) and I loved the character and feel of the place.

The opera was great, and having my mom there to explain a lot of it definitely helped... but I really like the local feel of the place vs the big houston grand opera type deal. The performance was very good and the whole experience was fantastic. It was on the longer side, but that's just nit-picking.

I highly recommend getting there early, parking in the lot, and walking over to the down house restaurant around the corner. It's a great little restaurant to have some apps and wine before going to the show.

I am not an opera guy at all, but loved the experience. I plan on going again later this year and bringing my wife.

“IF YOU LOVE OPERA AS IT WAS INTENDED TO BE PERFORMED THIS IS IT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2012

Opera in the Heights is in the former social hall of a church on Heights Boulevard in Houston, Texas. The performers are of the highest quality, performing with the simple sets that were intended before Grand Opera swallowed up the genre and the prices are so reasonable (yes with discounts for seniors) that one can easily enjoy opera without feeling "pinched". If you are a visitor and opera lover, check http://operaintheheights.org/ to inquire about a performance.

“Entertainment of high quality - NOT A HOTEL!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2012

Opera in the Heights is an energetic, young opera company that PERFORMS in Lambert Hall, located in The Heights area of Houston. It is NOT a hotel and should not be listed as a PROPERTY!! That aside, and hopefully with correction by staff at Trip Advisor, I recommend this to people who enjoy seeing and hearing young men and women who are ' rising stars in opera' and hearing a well-directed orchestra. The orchestra director is also part and parcel -- and if you know music, it is often part of the experience to see the maestro's body language as he directs and manipulates the instrumentalists. The musicians are well trained and he brings out their best. Every seat is close -- this is former church converted to a hall for musical and other entertainment venues. Parking is along streets, so arrive early. It's easy to park a block or two on a side street and walk. Another plus is that there are so many fine restaurants in The Heights in all price ranges. We drive from out of town and spend the afternoon in the art galleries, ice cream shoppes and interesting stores, have an early dinner, then go to Lambert Hall about 30 minutes before the performance begins. The tickets are generally between $20 and $25 per person, and almost all seats have excellent views of the stage, singers and orchestra. This group provides excellent opera, the majority of which are well-known with recognizable scores. You also appreciate how much they accomplish with so little!
