We booked a one night stay at this hotel to see the Astros play the Cardinals in the baseball playoffs. It was just three blocks fromt he hotel to the stadium. The rooms are very modern. The pillows and beds are extremely comfortable. We both slept very well that evening. The staff is just so-so. They really are not very professional. Actually, the hotel could use a good cleaning! It was rather dusty. Unless you get a great price on the room-do not pay retail-it is not worth it!

What a terrific place! This small, unique hotel is ALL ABOUT SERVICE! The staff is friendly and efficient and made us feel so welcomed. I stayed at the hotel on Tuesday and Wednesday nights on business, but have already booked a weekend stay with my wife for a romantic getaway. The food in their restaurant , 17, is unbelievable and the bar is an intimate find with great cocktails!
If you are looking for something that is not cookie-cutter where you feel like a "guest" and not a "customer", this is the place for you!

After reading the reviews for the Sam Houston we were really looking forward to staying there. The hotel is located in the up and coming Downtown area of Houston. On arrival, we thought the hotel looked clean and modern - quite trendy in fact. The rooms are fairly nice too - though a bit small. The bathrooms are the best bit about the hotel. I don't think the hotel caters for guests staying more than a day or so. There really is very little wardrobe and drawer space available.

The restaurant is very nice for dinner (a bit pricey for Houston), but quite poor for breakfast. You can't get something simple like toast or cereal - they do have oats but there is too much extra stuff added to it. I have to admit that the sight of the breakfast menu made me feel slightly nauseous (think duck comfit hash - yuk).

Overall this is a nice hotel - though I would say it is more suited to the business traveller than the vacation guest. I don't think we would stay here again. It just isn't that comfortable.

Wonderful Hotel. Stayed 4th Feb 2005 for 5 nights . The property itself was spectacular . Bed and pilows glorious, bathroom breathtaking .
But what really brought the property to life was the staff. Every single person we spoke to was courteous, helpful, friendly and interested in us. Nothing was too much trouble.

Connie & Freddie at the concierge desk helped us plan routes round the city by public transpoet ( to the Gallaria) suggested areas to visit and arranged car hire. When it was raining one evening and we were going out to a restaurant they offered us transport with Tim in the town car.

This elegant and sophisticated hotel in a jewel in downtown Houston, we will definitely return to it on future trips

I recently stayed 2 nights at this hotel after reading some reviews about it. It is a trendy, classy, high level of service hotel. They do what it takes to make your stay care free. The room I stayed in was a bit small, but was fine for me. It was decorated really well, had an extremely comfortable bed and very nice clean bathroom. Didn't feel like a hotel room...Felt more like my own bedroom. My hot water wasn't working right and they responded with in 2 minutes. I also forgot my deoderant and the front desk gave me deoderant, tooth paste/brush and a razor in case I forgot anything else.

I really liked the dark brown trendy color them through out the hotel. Also, having 24/hr room service was great after a night out, but also expensive. This hotel has a Lincoln that will take you anywhere you need to go and pick you up free of charge. This worked out very well for me. I would stay here again.
