“My theater of choice.....none other can compare”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

I went to Sundance Cinema on opening & have become addicted to the atmosphere, bar, food, friendly staff, and most of all the wide range of films from which to choose. The individual theaters have a limited number of seating and it is a very intimate way to enjoy a great movie. I especially love that you can reserve your seat. The indie films that I have seen there have been so great.

“always a great way to view a movie”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

if it's adults going to the movies and wanting to see something recent and you're close to downtown, this is the spot. Adult beverages, not too many kids, validated parking, excellent seats and great popcorn.

“Almodovar Treat”

Very pleasant surprise to find such a nicely maintained movie theatre in the heart of downtown. The seats were very cozy and the screen was great. Nice variety of films available to view also.

“Quaint Upscale Theater in need of an upgrade”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

The only other Sundance theater I've frequented is the Kabuki in SF, which is awesome due to its location near Japan Town and Fillmore, validated parking and very large theaters. So, when I visited Houston Sundance, I have to admit that I was underwhelmed. It's quaint, I'll give it that but there isn't much in the area, save a few pricey restaurants. The food in the theater is okay with limited variety and seating. One big difference is that they serve alcohol just about whenever, whereas in SF, it's only for the after 4 p.m. shows. This is a dual edge sword because people do drink and then they tend to get a little sloppy. So, if you're bringing your teen or younger child to see a show, you may witness some loud individuals. I also found the screens on the small side, and the seats could use some upgrading.

Lastly, the whole parking thing is a bit confusing depending on where you park they either reimburse you or they validate...confusing.
