This was the second time I had stayed at the Intercontinental in Houston. The location of the hotel can not be faulted - it is within one block of the Galleria shopping centre and only a short drive to attractions. Check-in went relatively smoothly and we received a room on the Club floor. No complaints about the room or bathroom. Housekeeping wasn't as good as expected - glasses were not replaced with fresh ones, toiletries were not replenished and mini-bar wasn't re-stocked. A call to housekeeping resolved the above. Internet access is free on the Club Floor although we had to point this out to the front desk staff as it was included on our bill. Used the club lounge for breakfast one morning - range of fruit, cereals, breads and bagels - all adequate. Don't bother with valet parking - self-park is easy with a back entrance to the hotel from the parking garage.
Would I stay here again ... probably!

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel and all in all it is fine. Go for the Club floor because it is well worth the extra money for the lounge.

My husband I stayed here for a weekend and could not have been happier! We had no problems with any of the staff. Room service was quick, when we needed a bottle opener they were very quick in bringing it to our room. Since we are not from Texas when we asked the conceirge to give us directions to the nearest flea market they had them ready for us when we went down. Our room was very clean and it seemed like everything was new. The bed was VERY comfortable! The hotel was very close to the Galleria mall and restarants. The next time we are in Houston we will stay here, especially will go thru hotwire again. Got a $125 room for $64!

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary weekend. We loved the hotel and the location. The room was extremely clean and the decor was attractive. I thought the wine glasses and corkscrew in the room were a nice touch as we always bring wine with us when we travel. There is also the obligatory stocked mini-bar and snack bar as well as robe and slippers.

Service was outstanding. If we were walking anywhere, random employees would ask us if we needed assistance. All employees were friendly. My husband loved the work-out room. While he was jogging on the treadmill, an employee out of the blue brought him a glass of ice water and towel. We did order room service one night, and the food was delicious.

The location is great for going out to eat. Every restaurant you could possibly want to visit is on Westheimer or Post Oak behind the hotel. We loved the Melting Pot down the road for a very romantic dinner and enjoyed Fogo de Chao [a carnivore's heaven] for lunch the next day.

I'm not sure why the previous two reviews were so negative. We were thoroughly impressed with the service and quality of this hotel.
