I stayed here 3 times in the last 4 months on business for a week at a time.

I spent three weeks at the same hotel, and in consideration of my business, they failed to meet any of my expectations.

I order breakfast each and every morning so that it would arrive in the morning in enough time for me to eat and go. On 4 occasions they failed to bring it or brought it late.


On most occasions checking in (except the one where I arrived at 1AM) I had to wait 10+ minutes as there was only one person at the front desk.

The maid when cleaning my bathroom would leave my toothbrush in my hair brush and my glasses face down. Even after complaining, this was not corrected.

The hotel has a beautiful lobby, with a pianist playing nightly. Very nice atmosphere.

The concierge is off at six so if you are looking for any assistance finding a place to go for dinner you had better ask in the morning.

The Restaurant is horrible. The chairs are like lawn chairs and the cheap tables are covered with even cheaper table cloths. The food was terrible and weird. Definitely do not eat at the hotel if you can help it.

Won't stay there again for business. And likely won't trust the Intercontinental wherever I go.

When I was informed I was able to stay at the Intercontinental Hotel, I was very excited. What a dissapointment! I arrived into town a day early and stayed at the Hotel Derek for one night. The Hotel Derek was 33% less expensive and much nicer. The room at the Intercontinental looked ordinary and had mechanical problems. When I called guest services for help, there was initially no answer. Finally, I reached someone and the problem took 2 days to fix. When I left my room in the morning, it took 10 minutes for the elevator to come to my floor and take me to the lobby- what a waste of time. The concierge services provided no maps and consequently made it harder to get around town. On one morning no newspaper was delivered to my room- a basic service for any nice hotel. On a positive note there was a very nice work out facility. The equipment was in good shape and the video monitors on the machines worked well.

We took a trip down to Galveston and stayed at the InterContinental Houston for a night as we wanted to do some shopping at the Galleria on our way back to Austin. The hotel was excellent, really really great deal for the price. The room was clean and large, definitely 4 or 5-star facilities and service. The gym was great as well, you get your own LCD monitor to watch TV and news. The pool looked awesome but we didn't have time to try it out.

The best of all, it comes with free breakfast at the lobby restaurant. It was really good breakfast, all you can eat buffet type. I've had similar quality breakfast at other 5-star hotels but never got it free. I believe parking was extra but definitely worth it.

Highly recommended!

The staff was so friendly and made you feel very much number 1 at all times. The room service was fantastic. The beds and pillows were great. I woudln't stay any other place than this hotel when I go back!
