Just got back from a 3 night stay at the Intercontinental. I was very impressed with this property. The staff was friendly, professional and attentive. The room was great...I don't usually comment on the beds in a hotel, but the sheets and pillows were really comfortable. The hotel appears to be pretty new. I was part of a convention so I did not experience any of the restaurants, but the food for our event was some of the best I've ever experienced for a large group and the service was top notch. I would imagine their restaurants are as good if not even better. This hotel is perfect for a business traveler or convention. It features a nice workout area. The only drawback is that it's not connected to the Galleria, but it's only a short walk.

I have stayed a few times at the Intercontinental Houston many years ago just after it opened. The staff was very very friendly and helpful and everybody was very passionate about THEIR Hotel. The hotel still looks the same (good maintenance) but the passion is unfortunately gone. Don't get me wrong the staff is still friendly and helpful and they surely make up for the avarage 4-star hotel standards but the WOW-Factor that I experienced the first few times is not existing anymore. I noticed on the colateral in my room that the management has changed (I believe). It seems that the new management does not create any passion in the people.
I will still stay at the Intercontinental in future as it is a good hotel and a very clean one too (that fortunately hasn't changed in years) but they should somehow get their passion back.

Had a pleasant stay at this hotel. Nothing in particular stands out as spectacular, but everything was above average. Everything was very clean and new-looking, which was nice. The lobby is spacious, but not memorable. Location is good, in the Galleria area - but still quite a bit of a walk through heavy traffic if trying to go to the actual mall. Cab stand outside always had a few cabs waiting, which is nice (and unusual in Houston). Seems to be an efficiently run and well-maintained facility. Comfortable but not memorable. Would definitely recommend for a business traveler and also for anyone interested specifically in being in the Galleria area.

Overall this hotel was fine because we got a good price on Priceline. The room was clean, the bed and pillows were nice and new. The water pressure was great. The $16 parking charge stunk. The sink faucet was loose but these things don't concern me. What DID concern me was that it seemed as though someone had a party in our room the day before while we were out! The morning of check out, our bill charged us for 2 beers and a bottle of champagne from our mini bar for the day before, and we had not even touched the mini bar. The same morning , had we not checked our cell phones, we would not have known that the clock had been set to an hour earlier. The time had been correct the 3 previous days, so someone had deliberately done this because the alarm clock time could only be changed by going forward. The bill was corrected and we were apologized to, but it left a bad taste in our mouth and it would keep me from staying there again.
