I was in Houston on business and stayed there for 3 nights in early March, 2008. The room I was in on the 4th floor was fairly typical in terms of layout except for the size - it was bigger than similar class hotels.

I appreciated the free internet. They have wireless and wired but you will need to bring your own cable or buy it from the front desk ($10).

Another nice feature is the breakfast which is a bit better than some free continental breakfasts including some hot items.

My biggest complaint was that the location is a few blocks away from the main downtown area and there are no nearby places to eat. I got in at supper time and had to call for delivery from a pizza place nearby that had a pretty limited menu.

The indoor pool is quite small and is located right next to a sitting area in the lobby so unless you want to be on display while you swim, it's not really useful.

If I go back to Houston, I'll probably opt for a hotel in the downtown core, and one that has an in-house restaurant.

Stayed one night at this best western and it was a great stay, the staff was very friendly and gave me some great spots to eat at around the area. Hotel was very clean and had internet in the room and in the business center. Great stay overall.

I thought the staff here were incredibly helpful and friendly. My friend was staying at the Hyatt Regency, and for a third of the price and a two-block walk from downtown, I got a larger room, free delicious breakfast, free high speed internet, and best of all, chocolate chip cookies and a happy hour! Every staff member I spoke to took an interest in me and my exploration of their city. They were very knowledgeable and provided me with terrific advice. My visit to Houston was a wonderful experience I won't soon forget. I absolutely would stay here again.

If you're looking for a nice size room, which is reasonably clean and maintained, this may be a good choice. However, the staff was extremely cold and distant, so don't count on them for any advice, directions or any assistance, I was treated as more of an inconvenience than a guest. I believe that they only wish to cater to business travelers who need absolutely no assistance. I had no particular problem with the staff, but certainly did not feel welcome at this hotel.
