This hotel is convenient for business with HP. I've tried them twice and they struck out both times. No third chance from me.

The first time, the internet access was down in my room and I needed it for working after hours. They would not switch me to a different room.

The second time was in Nov '06. I had notified them I would be a late check-in (11p). The room was to be non-smoking. I got my key and hauled my bag up to the room. The room had an overwhelming "air freshener" smell to it and there was an ash tray on the table. I could tell they had tried to deodorize the room. I was so tired that I decided to fix it in the morning.

When I went down the next morning, they apologized and said they would prepare another room for me that evening. I packed my bag after work and went down to the lobby. "I'm sorry. We had to assign the room to people checking in. They had a non-smoking reservation. We don't have anything else available."

I stayed in my smoking room again that night. The next morning, I went down to the desk again... only this time... while I was waiting to speak with the clerk... She was making a non-smoking reservation for one of their rooms checking in THAT NIGHT! I was of course told she could do nothing for me since that was the last non-smoking room they had available.

I told her the manager needed to call me. They had to either put me into a non-smoking room for my last two nights or they would be reserving me a hotel room in another establishment that would provide me with a non-smoking room.

I spoke with the manager and he said he would get me moved. Later, they had called my cell phone (while I was in a training class) and left a voicemail stating that they needed to move my bags to the new room. I did not get the voicemail until after work and the room was "no longer available."

I went to the desk and asked for the mgr again... he was telling me that there was nothing they could do. I repeated that they would be finding me another hotel to stay in.

He then freed up one of the handicap access rooms for me to move into (they had one of their regular clients coming in that liked to use the room, but they would put him somewhere else).

The damn room had a broken phone and the microwave didn't work! I was happier in there, but what a dump!

I was also 7 months pregnate at the time. They were willing to ignor my needs and check other people in to non-smoking rooms since they had reservations... duh, I also had a reservation for a non-smoking room.

  • Disliked — The service. No commitment to my reservation.

When we enter the lobby it was very welcoming. The desk clerk was polite and helpful. We entered our room it was very tidy. The decor was okay but not the best decor. The bathroom was clean and smelled fresh. The complimentary breakfast was good but they could have provided a delux breakfast with a little more of a variety. We really enjoyed our stay and we will stay again.

Nice decor? Who are they kidding?

I have stayed at other Wingates before, namely the Tyler, Texas location (which is excellent). The Houston/Willowbrook is now the second Wingate that has not lived up to expectations.

Upon arrival, one of my reserved rooms was a handicapped room. They said that was all that was avialable. I arrived at 3:30pm. Other than that, the female clerk was friendly and conversational.

The exterior of the hotel is attractive. However, enter any room, and you will be transported back into the mid eighties. The decor is a combination of early American, and bad contemporary. There is a disgusting overuse of mauve in the color scheme. And, to top it off (hoping to give my eyes a rest from the horrible color pallete), I crawl into bed, and discover BLUE sheets!

Overlooking the extremely dated decor (which is rather perplexing, seeing as how this facility is not that old), the hotel room was not in very good shape. It is a non-smoking room; however, it is obvious that there has been quite a bit of smoking in here, from the covered up musty cigarette smoke smell, to the stains by the sink.

The carpet has an obvious patch. I can't see any stains, but only because the carpet is a dark purple/mauve. However, there is dust and hairs collecting along the walls. The walls are scuffed up in places, the light switches are dirty, and the bathroom floor is sticky - and has an large crack in it.

Next time, I'll book MUCH farther in advance to stay at the nearby Hilton Garden Inn, or one of the other available options.

Quite dissapointing, and overpriced considering the condition.

Attractive decor overall and very nice service. Large room with couch and comfortable recliner, comfortable mattress, marble bathroom sink, good room lighting. Well maintained, newer facility. Whirlpool spa, exercise room. Business room with fax machine, copier, etc. available. Will stay at this motel again.
