Hotel Derek rocks! From the lobby, logo, to the furniture and pens in the room -- it's about as designer boutique as it gets. Work room is top notch and the pool area is beautiful. The spacious guest rooms' neutral tones of beige, brown, ice blue and chrome are calming and relaxing. We've never eaten in the restaurant but the bar is really nice. On the weekends the Hotel Derek's bar is the place to be and been seen. Just be aware that upon returning to the hotel at night, it's busy downstairs, but we've never had a problem with party noise. Excellent location on Westheimer near great, upscale shopping and restaurants. The Hotel Derek gets my stamp of approval!

I stayed at Hotel Derek for one night and I loved it. The atmophere and decor of the hotel is really fun and fresh. The rooms were also stylish and fun. The restaurant, Bistro Moderne, is very good as well. Overall, the hotel was a great value and I would recommend it to anyone coming to the Houston area.

The Derek is in a perfect location for visiting Houston. The room was clean and spacious, the pillows were comfortable. The bathroom was stocked with L'Occitane toiletries. I thought the TV with fish swimming like they were in a fish tank was cute. The lighting as very dim, which made doing daytime makeup a little difficult. The street noise can be loud even on the 9th floor and we could hear the people in the room next to us a few times, but nothing disturbing. The fitness center was nice and clean, although small. But they did have an entire refrigerator full of bottled water for during your workout and a bowl of fruit.
Valets were fast getting the car and room service breakfasts were fabulous. They even called us 2 hours later to ask if we wanted the tray removed....usually you have to beg a hotel to pick it up in a timely manner. The restaurant on premises was fabulous and the staff was very attentive. The manager and chef both visited our table throughout our dinner to make sure everything was satisfactory. It was also very intimate and romantic (we saw a marriage proposal happen).
Check out was a breeze. The staff is so friendly and accomodating I would defintely stay here again. I wouldn't say this is an ultimate luxury hotel, but if you are looking for someplace fun and hip with wonderful service Derek is a great choice.

Hotel Derek is a must stay in Houston. My husband and I took the weekend to Houston for shopping at the Galleria which we di about 4 to 5 times a year. This was our first time to stay there and Hotel Derek was in the perfect location! They even provided us roundtrip car service in the town car for free. The rooms are all very modern and you may run into a celebrity in the lobby, we did! Hotel Derek is by far the best hotel in Houston!
