The hotel is nice very updated but toward access to your vehicle its really bad we had certain appointments for dinner called for our car 35 min in advance once we both was ready went to lobby the car still was not brought to the front..the wait time was 30 min additional to calling in.
on the last night staying there other guest was screaming very loud and rude the house keeper walked in on me twice not cool at all

If you are traveling on business this may be the hotel for you. It appeared that the business amenities were very nice and the location would be excellent for meetings and such. Be prepared for the $19 per night valet parking fee - guests cannot access the parking areas so you do not have a choice in this, you must pay it and allow the valet to park your car. As a casual traveler the room was very luxe and trendy but had a few problems. The lighting is quite dim despite having several lighting fixtures around the room. The king-sized bed is a standard king but they should have a few California Kings available - my husband is 6'4" tall and had to curl his legs to fit, if he stretched out he hung off the bed by a good 4 inches or more. The duvet was very nice and plush but the weight easily drug the other covers off the bed. The items provided in the room for a fee and the minibar items are outrageously priced - unless you can write them off on an expense account it would be best to skip them. We did not try the hotel restaurant - after seeing the room service prices we decided against it. The bathroom was also very modern, we loved the "rainshower" shower head but the shower curtain liner was not able to be held down at the bottom and I fought it for my entire shower. The lighting in the bathroom is very dim - the lamp to one side of the mirror had a dimmer switch but it would have been nice to be able to make it brighter instead of dimmer. All-in-all I think it would make for a great business travel experience and quite possibly the special packages would be great, but for the casual traveler to Houston it's a bit overdone.

Just wanted to go to an Astros game and HMNS and stay somewhere nice and quiet. Arrived by trying to figure out where to park. As I was checked in by a very friendly clerk, she informed me that there is no on-site parking and you had to pay 19 dollars for valet. Well, just great and thanks for obviously letting me know when I made online reservations. When we get to the room, it was nice enough with a great TV and fairly comfortable beds. HOWEVER, the road noise all night was so ridiculous as the room we had faced I-610. Slept what little I could with a pillows on both sides of my head. The number one requirement I have for a good hotel is for it to be quiet and this one failed miserably even at 3 or 4 in the morning. At least noise from other rooms was not apparent (as far as I could tell). Had 25 dollars in coupons for breakfast but still ended up paying 25 more for the four of us. Quite pricey for a simple breakfast. Finally, the pool is postage stamp sized. The four of us could not have floated in it at the same time!

The Hotel Derek is located in the Galleria area of Houston, so you're literally just a few minutes away from everything! I checked in late on Sunday and the valet and front desk almost knew who I was when I arrived. Very easy check-in, nice room and comfortable bed.

What's very cool about the hotel is the decor, lobby area, outdoor pool and restaurant. It's very on trend and updated. The bar area is a great place to sip on a cocktail and people watch.
