My stay at the Derek was pleasant from the beginning. Upon arrival, the staff was friendly and courteous. Our rooms was beautiful and the bed extremely comfortable. The hotel staff is also willing to accomodate any request - and there is also a shuttle that takes you to any nearby location. Overall a very unique and enjoyable visit that I would recommend to anyone.

This hotel may look nice and has a "coolness" factor that many other hotels lack, but make no mistake, this is a wolf in sheep's clothing.
The staff is remarkably rude and the walls are paper-thin; the quality just isn't there. In fact, this hotel is just a refurbished "Red Lion Inn" or something like that. We left the hotel at 4 a.m. to go somewhere else; we could hear every word from our drunk neighbors.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Derek for 2 nights. The room and the furniture were really nice, but the room was a little dusty and the bathtub was clogged. We didn't have any issues with hotel staff, they were polite and helpful. Our only other issue is that there wasn't a self park. You had to use the valet everytime you wanted to get in and out of the hotel. We were tipping valets six times a day in addition to paying for parking so we avoided going back to the hotel for short amounts of time. It was extremely inconveneint.

We had heard wonderful things about the hotel's decor and stayed here for Valentine's Day weekend. For $110/ night, it was okay, but if we'd paid much more I'd be disapponted. Service personnel were very polite but SLOW. There is mandatory valet parking and the valets seemed to be overwhelmed and the scene chaotic.Check-in was more orderly but very slow. Room itself was wonderful in lofty decor and the bed comfortable. However, there was a peculiar hint of a musky dog kennel-like smell emanating on the 9th floor. We did not dine at the hotel given the choice of so many great restaurants nearby.
