Our young family always enjoys staying at Homewood properties because of the separate bedroom accommodations and privacy this affords. Having two televisions is always a plus as well as the breakfast buffet with eggs, etc. This southern locale actually served gritts with cheese on the side. The breakfast at this location was not as organized as we've experienced elsewhere. They ran out of coffee on a Saturday morning and only had one waffle maker. Therefore, the service line was very congested. However, there was something for everyone in our family.

The only real complaint we had was with the amenities provided in our room. Our first assigned room was on the first floor, right by the exit door to outside. This was a noisy locale. The closets were broken and wouldn't stay shut, which was a safety hazard for our young children who wanted to play in them. There was not any welcoming coffee, popcorn, or even paper towels supplied in the kitchen either. We were politely moved quickly to the only other room left for the evening. This was a handicap unit on the third floor, which actually worked perfectly for our young family. The unit was larger and in a quiet locale. The bath had a tub with a pull down shower head which helped with our small children. This unit had more amenities such as a corner fireplace and coffee was set out in the kitchen but still not a kichen towel, popcorn, or other kitchen supplies to get you started.

When I inquired at the front desk, the night clerk who had replaced the first at check-in said "Just what do you need?" I wasn't sure what to ask for, and he gave me several items. I always hate to complain but felt their cleaning staff should have been instructed on what better to stock. With all of this said, we still loved staying with Homewood Suites, and they were very nice to match the rate offered to us by one of their partner hotels, Hampton Inn & Suites, located just down the road. Their location was very convenient to restaurants and our destination on Saturday, the Houston Space Center. It was our first time visiting the Space Center, and we literally spent all day there. Our young children loved the Superhero School, Martian playscape, and we all enjoyed visiting the Johnson Space Center austronaut training area. Our hotel actually had coupons for $5 off admission, which was a buck more than our military installation offered in prepaid ticket discounts. Our three year-old was free! We also used a 10% coupon in our brochure for all of our food purchases. As military, they also gave us 10% off in the gift shop areas. Hey, it all adds up and never hurts to ask!

On Sunday, our kids enjoyed a mid-morning swim in the pool before check-out. We then enjoyed visiting the Kema Boarkwalk on Galveston Bay. This was only 7-8 miles from our hotel. Parking was free, and a taxi boat easily transported visitors to the docks filled with restaurants, shops, and boardwalk rides and fun. We dined at Landry's, and the seafood and service was excellent. We were actually seated with a great bay view. It so happened to be the weekend for the "Blessing of the Fleet," and we enjoyed watching the pagentry of decorated boats beelining past as we dined. After a leisurely lunch, we enjoyed the little train and the carousel in the amusement area. We also browsed the expensive toy store filled with everything you could imagine for "Thomas the Tank Engine," my son's favorite. It was a great weekend, and we would definitely do it all again while staying at Homewood Suites!

We were looking for a quick overnight getaway in a suite to accomodate our family. At $89 + taxes for a suite this was excellent value. There was signage when checking in advising that upgrading of decor was taking place but complimentary popcorn and cookies were provided for the inconvenience. The ladies looking after the buffet breakfast appeared to be unable to keep up with demand and a number of items had not been replenished and a number of requests had to be made for items to be made available. Other than that it was large clean accomodation, pool, basketball court and the complimentary videos was a service that we have never received in the numerous other hotels we have stayed in. Would definately stay in this hotel and other Homewood suites in the future.

Stayed in one bedroom suite.
Huge, for a hotel room. Comfortable Beds, kitchen with full size refridgerator (w/ ice maker). Working fireplace in room is a cozy touch.

Free breakfast and dinner (M-Th). OK, not great, but awfully convenient and warm. (what do you expect for free?) Hostess did a good job.

Large, inviting lobby. Friendly, efficient staff in all areas.

My family and I stayed here on vacation for 2 nights in October 2005. I can't say anything negative about this hotel. Ive always been pleased with Homewood Suites, and this hotel is no exception. It has the usual H.S. amenities: complete breakfast (hot and cold items), managers hour in the afternoon, "real" suites. The location is great. It is less than 10 minutes from NASA/Space Center Houston, 15 minutes from Kemah Boardwalk, and about 30-40 minutes from Galveston.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and spacious. I think they had free high-speed internet, but I was on vacation, so I didn't use it.

I noticed the hotel is right next to some railroad tracks. Our room was on the side "away" from the tracks. We never heard any trains/horns. But you might if you were on that side. So perhaps ask for a room on the "east" side of the hotel.

We will not hesitate to stay here again when in the area.

We were evacuees from hurricane Katrina and stayed at this hotel for a little over two weeks. The hotel is clean, new, and nicely decorated. Daily maid service is awesome. (Some other "home away from home" hotels only clean your room once or twice a week.) Our room was like being in a one bedroom apartment rather than a hotel. The lobby looks like your living room instead of a hotel lobby. The staff was WONDERFUL!!! They were all friendly and helpful and full of smiles (well, there was one lady....). Sarah especially was always a huge help. The pool stays chilled even on the hottest days because it's in the middle of the hotel and only receives direct sunlight for a couple of hours a day. Other than that, you are served a full breakfast each morning and dinner with beer and wine Monday through Thursday, which was a huge help to us. I would stay at a Homewood Suites again in a heartbeat because of our experience here. Great for families AND business travelers!
