At $40 a night inc tax, this motel was a bargain. On the plus side, the rooms were mostly clean, and freshly painted. Each room is covered in scenes from under the ocean, in the rainforest or a tropical island and the rooms are spacious with microwaves, fridge and many have sofas.
Most of the rooms had large mirrors by the side of and above the bed and flashing disco lights. The rooms appeared to be geared towards 'adult fun' and judging by some of the characters around late at night, we weren't the only ones with that impression. That said, we didn't feel unsafe there and saw very little trouble in the area.
The Lisa Motel was a bizarre and unique experience. It was the cheapest motel we found in Houston and although we don't regret staying there I probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone other than those with a sense of adventure and tight budget.
