“One Yr. Later: Still Best French Bistro in Houston!!!”
I was lucky enought to discover this gem in the middle of the Rice University area one year ago. Back then I was thrilled with the food, service and atmosphere. I have to admit that one year later, I am even MORE impressed with it all. Matt, who unfortunately was not present the day we went, made sure we were welcome and treated just like royalty. I insisted we returned to this bistro with 3 people who had never experienced it. Needless to say, I received an A+ for picking it and everyone's palate was satisfied beyond expectations.
I sat with my family last year in their covered patio which is lovely. It is pet friendly so you can bring your 4 legged children if they are well behaved. This time, it was a girls' trip so my 4 legged son was not included, therefore we sat inside. The atmosphere is just as nice, either way you will get fantastic service.
This time around, we all had appetizers, escargot and mushroom wellington. Wow....I could have eaten that all night, but had to save room for all the yummy choices thereafter. I personally had the filet mignon and it was out of this world. You could cut the meat with the fork. Perfectly cooked to the temperature I requested. One of the girls had lamb and said it was one of the best lambs she had ever tried. Another girl had salmon and I had the chance to try it, it was superb! The other girl ate so much of their yummy bread and butter (so did I) that only had a salad but said it was fantastic. We all had creme brulee for dessert. We were still talking about their food and service at 2 am that morning!
Matt, thanks for such an amazing experience once more. And even though I live 4 hours away from you, rest assure that I will return and bring more rookies to turn them to your delicious cuisine. As a matter of fact, I will be there again for Thanksgiving this year so wait for my call for a reservation.
I invite everyone living or visiting Houston to come experience this fabulous bistro. You will eat fresh french cuisine without going broke. Oh!!! Bonus = BYOB for a cork fee of $8.50. Does NOT get any better than that!!!
