“Great Embassy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

This is the best Embassy suites in the chain. It is newly built and is one of the new Embassy designs (no atrium). The rooms were very trendy and spacious. The manager's reception was very nice and breakfast was outstanding.

Our family of five had a great experience at this hotel on our recent vacation to Texas. The staff was friendly and very helpful and the rooms clean and comfortable. The location is great and easily walkable if you are taking in an NBA or MLB game. My kids enjoyed the heated pool. The complimentary breakfast and free managers evening reception are things we love about ES. We have stayed at several now and have never had a bad experience.

I came to this hotel as part of a relocation/apartment hunting search. We rented a car at the airport, and were completely surprised that the hotel only offered valet parking (28/day), otherwise you were on your own. There was no agreement with nearby lots, nor even a recommendation. We were told we could park on the street but we would have to move the car by 7 a.m. Luckily, we found a nearby lot for 15/day with in/out privaleges.

Location wise, the hotel is near the stadium, but if you want the real downtown, you have a little walk, and the neighboring areas are a little sketchy. We are from a large city, so the 3 homeless an 2 (nonagressive) panhandlers did not bother us.

One eye sore, directly in front of the hotel is a power plant...super ugly.

The staff are polite, and the 'made to order' breakfast is average at best (food luke warm, cut fruit non-appetizing, etc).

Room Tip: If you have a car, get overnight parking in lot next door. It is 13 dollars cheaper than the hotel.

Booked on business trip as referenced by friends. The room is spacious and very clean (I think it's new). A bit too big for me who traveled solo but would be perfect for couples or couples with 1 kid.
Located in downtown area, in my case just 5 minutes walk to office.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Stayed in early April as my husband was attending a convention. Looking out the window of the bedroom I looked over at the Brown Convention Center and Discovery Park. A short distance to the left was Minutemaid Stadium, and looking to my right, the Toyota Center. A decent number of restaurants in short walking distance as well. The accommodations were new and the bed was extremely comfortable. It's convenient to stay in a suite as well, with the kitchen unit available to make a cup of tea or heat up restaurant meal leftovers as an option. The included, fairly extensive breakfast was enjoyable and filling; one day we skipped lunch because of it.

My only issue was that we had a problem with the toilet one day, and it took more effort on our part than expected to get it resolved. We stopped by the front desk to ask them to address it as we were heading out in the morning. It was not fixed when we got back in the late afternoon, so I called again. An hour and a half went by and no one came to fix it, so I had to call again, when someone finally came and fixed it. The only blemish, however, on an enjoyable stay.

This place is clean and the rooms are spacious. I was in town in December working at a tradeshow and while it was a little pricey, it was well worth being able to walk to the convention center, and any place else I wanted to go downtown. The valets were particularly courteous and always had my car brought around well before I could get down on the elevator. I walked over a block to catch a concert, just another block in the other direction for dining and bars.

Room Tip: I was on a higher floor and my room was very quiet.

We are frequent travelers. Our family consists of myself, husband, mother in law and our 5 year old twins. We spent one day in Houston before our Disney Cruise which departed from Galveston Texas. After arriving at the Houston Airport, we took a quick cab ride over to this hotel. Check in was fast and service friendly. Our room was very spacious for the five of us. We had a great view of the city. Room was very clean, comfy beds and pillows and modern decor. This is one of the nicest hotel rooms I have seen anywhere and we travel extensively!
The free shuttle is a Cadillac Escalade that will take you anywhere downtown and pick you up when your ready. We used it to go to the Downtown Houston Aquarium Restaurant and then spent the evening at the aquarium. Free breakfast buffet was great with lots of selection. After breakfast we checked out. Then took a cab for a 1 hr drive to Galveston Cruise Terminal. This hotel was a great place to start our Disney Cruise Vacation. Will definately stay here again if ever in Houston in the future.
