“GREAT Stay !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

My husband and I along with our two children missed our connecting flight in Houston due to mechanical troubles with the de-icing machine in Detroit on 2/8/13. I was not a happy camper when United Airlines told us that there were no other flights to Cabo on 2/8 from Houston. None of the other airlines flying to Cabo on 2/8 had enough seats for the four of us. Our options were to fly to Dallas or Phoenix to be put on a stand by flight on 2/9, fly back to Detroit and repeat this on 2/9, or stay the night in Houston and get a guaranteed flight on 2/9 to Cabo. We chose to stay in Houston. The airline offered us no help other then handing us a blue piece of paper with a 1800 number to call for a discounted hotel. None of the hotels listed met my standards. I did a Google search of hotels in the area and found that Spring Hill Suites was in the area. I made my reservation right online while sitting at the airport and called for the shuttle to come pick us up. After six long hours of sitting in that airport we were cranky, tired and hungry. I just wanted to get to the hotel to finally relax. The shuttle picked us up within 10 minutes of our call to them. We were greeted by two friendly ladies working the front desk. Lobby was nicely appointed with an internet area, a snack convenience center (charge), and a restaurant/bar area. Thank goodness there was someplace to eat being that we didn't have a car. Check in was a breeze and we were off to our room #403. Our room was VERY spacious and VERY clean and had a modern/retro feel to it. Sitting area had a comfortable couch, bar area with microwave and mini fridge, and a large LCD television that was viewable from both the sitting area and bed. There was also a very large walk in closet. I swear a woman must of designed these rooms. LOVED how the toilet/sink/mirror were separate from the shower and vanity area. Made getting ready in the morning super easy. Shower was huge and bonus being it was a spa shower with the water jets on the wall. Restaurant downstairs was decent and provide a good meal and cold beverage to help take away the stress from the day. Got a wonderful nights rest too as the beds were so comfortable. Noise from planes was not an issue at all. In the morning the hotel provided a complimentary breakfast too. Many items to choose from such as made fresh waffles, eggs, cereal, bagels, various pastries and juices/milk/coffee. Mr. Rosa was such a wonderful man and helped my children in getting their food and drinks. Enjoyed talking with him during breakfast about our travel plans etc. We checked out with Anne at the front desk and she provided me with an extra copy of my receipt being we had trip insurance and would be reimbursed for our trip delay. Mr. Traylor who is one of the managers provided us with a shuttle ride back to the airport. Enjoyed the short ride talking about family, golf, and his past career driving a tour bus for a band. Such a genuine, friendly sole who showed me how a golf club works just the same as a cane. :) I hope that Devin J Frank, General Manager reads this review and gives his staff an extra pat on the back. If I'm ever in Houston again I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Spring Hill Suites again. I highly recommend this hotel. Thank you for a wonderful stay and a fresh new start to our trip to Cabo!

my experience to stay at Springhill was great. The room is very comfortable and clean, also big enough for 4 to 5 people to stay in. The room also have a very comfy sofa to sit for chatting. The staffs are friendly, and its close to the IAH airport. That's why you may hear some noisy at night when the aircrafts prepare for landing. But it's ok, not many often though. One bad thing about it is location. The hotel is away from the heart. Its about 20 minutes driving to Downtown Houston. However, no matter where you go in Houston, you definitely need a car to get around the city. I highly recommended to rent a car when you plan to travel in Houston. Since the hotel is kind of far away from the central, if you don't have a car, you might have a problem to get around for food. But DON'T WORRY!!! That's not A PROBLEM at all. Everyday from 5pm-11pm, the hotel lounge have "food court" there for you to order food such as salads, sandwiches, burgers, or even quesadillas. Not just a place for drink, also food too. So yea... i definitely recommend this hotel to all of you, you and your family/friends will enjoy it and have no regrets at all!! ;)

Pleasant stay. Very clean, spacious, efficient, modern rooms. Near to airport and car rentals. Our friends we were traveling with stayed at a hotel down the road for 2x as much as we paid and had the tires stolen off their rental car. We went to visit them and the place they stayed had a creepy vibe but not here. We felt safe and sound and had a nice stay. The food in the bar was descent too. Front desk staff went all out to take care of our requests. If I ever visit Houston again I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We had two stopovers both for two nights to and from our cruise from Galveston. We found the hotel to be very handy to the IAH Airport but very unhandy to get to anywhere else and the downtown of Houston. It is unfortunate that Houston does not have a very good public transit system to connect the airport to the downtown core. The layout of the hotel was great. We loved the room setup with the room partially divided from the bed to the sitting area. Also the toilet and a small sink were in a separate room from the shower and the vanity. The bed was very comfortable and we got a good nights sleep. The staff was the friendliest we have ever had in any hotel we have stayed, right from the front desk to the cleaning and maintenance staff. We were able to have a good chat with the bartender and the chief of maintenance. The shuttle driver went above and beyond for us in a time of need and that is something that will never be forgotten. I would recommend this hotel to anyone stopping over in Houston.

We spent one night here during an extended layover at IAH, with two young children in tow. Although we arrived late and left early, the 5-minute complimentary shuttle ride was fast and timely.

As other reviewers have stated, this property looks and feels brand new as of early 2013, with bright, spacious, and colorful rooms. The standard two-queen suite had plenty of space for our family of four, including room for a portable crib, and the separate sitting/office area with a modular table was a nice touch, especially since we ordered a takeout dinner to eat in. Because there are separate shower and powder rooms, each with its own sink, getting cleaned up was quick and painless even with multiple guests.

Beds, linens, and other appointments were all very comfortable, but the air conditioning was quite loud and cycled on and off frequently, which detracted a bit from an otherwise restful night.

Although we were told at check-in that only cold breakfast items would be available before we had to leave at 7AM, we found a full spread waiting for us at 6:30, which was a pleasant surprise. The buffet had the usual cereal, juice, fruit, and coffee, as well as eggs, bacon, and waffles, and it was hearty enough to save us from having to buy more food at the airport or on our next flight.

Overall, the IAH SpringHill is one of the nicer airport hotels I have stayed at, and I would definitely recommend it to other travellers.

We needed a hotel close to the airport for we were flying out early the following morning. The hotel is only 3 years old and is very thoughtful in its design for the business traveler. There is a separate sitting area with a desk. There is a separate powder room which I found to be very convenient. There were numerous plugs for our gadgets which is a big plus. The design of the hotel is very "modern and clean" looking. It has a European look to it. I would stay at a newer Springhill Suites over a Courtyard or Residence Inn now.

First off this hotel is very convenient to the IAH airport. The hotel looked almost brand new with bright colors to lighten up the room. The room consisted of a separate shower/toilet room and separate living area and the bedroom. The room felt really big and would be good for an extended stay with 2 people. The staff was very good and friendly and the breakfast was your standard waffles, cereals etc. Overall the location can't be beat if needing to be near the airport!
