“Nice, Newer art deco, Modern, Hip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

This is a newer hotel, built just a two years ago. Has a very hip, upscale, modern, city feel. The rooms are ample. Form follows function. All space is used to the maximum. I stayed in a room with (2) queen beds. Linens were clean and fresh. The room was well taken care of. A couple of small details that were wrong with the room (soap dispenser in shower not working, artwork on wall coming away from the wall) were quickly addressed and remedied by the staff. The staff is very attentive and willing to address your concerns. I am very pleased more so by the work ethic and customer service than by any other part of my stay. The front desk team of Umar and Shay are to be commended for their high level of personal customer service. All of my needs and complaints were handled immediately and completely. This hotel is especially nice due to its location to everything. (Galleria, two block walk)

Room Tip: Try higher floors away from Westheimer.

I stayed at the Aloft for business and found the facility extremely clean and every staff member I came in contact was extremely friendly and after one week almost everyone I interacted with addressed me by name. I would stay in a double oppose to the single because it was a little small for me, but otherwise I see no reason to stay in another hotel on my next business trip to Houston. The Galleria mall in walking distance is a big plus.

Room Tip: For an extende stay 3 or more days I would select a larger room, the singles are a tad bit small for...

The Front desk and Housekeeping staff were super friendly and responded fast to all inquires/requests.
Pros: Business friendly and trendy hotel, within 2 blk walking distance of Galleria Mall (fab stores) and plenty of places to eat for every buget within walking distance as well.

Cons: Ran out of hot water 3 x's in two days (am and pm), elevator had moving pads hanging from walls all three days, a short screwdriver drink was $10.50 and daily self parking is $14 per night (valet is available).

I recommend eating away from the hotel, they have a small selection of munchies, but way overpriced and there are TONS of places to eat nearby for for same price or less.

This is a fantastic hotel. I got a good rate last minute by going to their website. If you have modern taste and enjoy a less generic travel experience, this is for you.
Everyone is friendly and helpful, the rooms have a fantastic design and they are conscious of their eco-footprint. Comfy beds, too!
Older folks who don't like electronic music may be annoyed w the hotel, as they play fairly loud music in the elevators.

I don't usually like modern hotels but Aloft was very likeable with a great atmosphere. The rooms were very convenient and comfortable. Front desk staff was great and the pool and fitness center were very clean and accommodating. The location was great with the mall and plenty of great restaurants in the area.

My husband and I first stayed at an Aloft in Plano, TX, and just generally like the experience the brand is trying to create. Casual but welcoming lobbies, enthusiastic desk staff and their general willingness to do whatever it takes to make your stay better make us return over and over again.

What really impressed us the first time, though, was the tech amenities in the rooms. The ability to walk in and plug in just about anything, not just for charging, but for viewing on the flat panel TV, was wonderful! And if you don't have a cable (or don't know what you're doing), they'll help you out.

I understand some people are disappointed that there's no free breakfast, but in my experience free breakfasts are pretty mediocre in quality. Aloft charges you money (more expensive than fast food, not out of line with normal hotel food prices), but offers pretty tasty stuff. And you can pick up something to eat anytime, because the food concessions are tied to the front desk, not a separate store that opens and closes.

We find the rooms comfortable and like the industrial chic decor, although we understand it may not be everyone's cup of tea. I also like the soap and shampoo dispensers in the shower (nice to not have to fuss with a bottle, and frankly, less wasteful than providing individual containers for each guest) and the rain-type shower heads.

So why not "excellent?" Well, as previously mentioned, the walls are paper-thin and the hotel does attract a "party" clientele. With the understanding that my husband and I are probably older than the demographic the Aloft is trying to attract, we do sometimes find the noise to be a problem. I'm writing this from my room and I can tell you with some certainty that there are at least two dogs on this floor, maybe three. And it's not because I've seen them. Unlike what a previous reviewer said though, we have always found the staff very responsive to complaints about noise. Also, I wish the climate control was quieter, but I find this a constant problem in hotel rooms.

We stayed at the Aloft last night. The staff was pleasant and the decor is fun and unique. The other guests, however, were trashy and drunk half the night. The walls are paper thin...we could hear our neighbors getting intimate. There were several loud parties in rooms around ours that went on until about midnight. I wouldn't let my teen girls roam the hotel on their own. A majority of the guests looked like thugs or prostitutes. Pass on this one, at least at this location.

Room Tip: Don't overlook Westheimer. It's very noisy.
