“Good four diamond property”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2007

We picked this facility because it is a four diamond hotel. It deserves the rating as there was nothing to complain about in the room and especially the helpful staff.

But it was a pain getting in and out of the multilevel garage and access to nearby streets and the nearby freeway through Greenway Plaza buildings took some getting used to.

Nevertheless if you want to be in this part of Houston this is a good choice.

Nice hotel and rooms have attractive features such as floor to ceiling windows and walk-in closet. Location is convenient, at easy driving distance of downtown, galleria, and museums.
The quality of the breakfast buffet was quite average and not much variety. This isn't a great property but it is a solid choice, especially on the week-end rates which are a great value.

The Renaissance was a nice hotel and in a great location for folks visiting Lakewood Church. We had no complaints at all about the room or hotel except there aren't many places to eat in this area of Houston and the hotel restaurant is not the best. Also, the elevators seemed a bit dated -- kind of ran a little jumpy (like jumpy enough to make you a little nervous) with tinny music -- but otherwise it was great.

We stayed at the Renaissance while attending a UH game this past weekend. The hotel was excellent, from the condition of the room to the friendly staff, making this one of the finest facilities that we have ever stayed in. The only draw back is the cost of valet parking but they have a self parking arrangement for only $9 per night. The location of the hotel is convenient to 59 which gives easy access to downtown , medical center , south area or west area.

  • Liked — Condition of facility and location
  • Disliked — none

5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2006

This is my fourth or fifth visit to this hotel. It's great. Large, attractive, comfortable rooms with excellent A/C to handle the Houston heat and humidity. The staff is well-trained, polite, and professional. Very nice work out room and outdoor pool. The breakfast buffet was ample and good quality. As other reviewers have stated, the hotel is in a great location. This hotel has great weekend rates, too. I will definitely return to this hotel.

  • Liked — Large attractive comfortable room
  • Disliked — You have to drive everywhere but this is Houston so this is normal.
  • Tips/Secrets — Weekend rates are usually good at this hotel.

This hotel is well furnished and very clean, one of the nicest hotels I've been to for only $99 a night. However, don't plan on eating here because the food is overpriced and some services like the wireless internet access are not free. This hotel is in a great location and great staff.
