I recently stayed at the Marriott North Greenspoint on a business trip and found the hotel to be a solid business class hotel. The hotel is located in the northern part of Houston near (10 minute drive) the Bush Intercontinental Airport and is convenient to the oil and engineering businesses that are housed near Houston's larger of two airports. For tourists, it would be some driving distance to most of Houston's tourist destinations and Houston is a very large city totally dependent on automobile travel.
The hotel is multi-story building built in the 80's I'd guess. Rooms are standard size, not large, but, adequate. They have been recently renovated so they have new furniture, carpeting and accessories. The best part of the renovations were the new Marriott Beds, absoultely wonderful. Pillow top mattress, excellent 300 count linens and duvets. Best sleep in a Marriott this year. Just hope they roll out this new package quickly to all their other locations. Being an 80's built building, the bathrooms are small, but, for a solo business person, adequate. The size might be a challange with a family. The bathrooms have been renovated and had new curving shower curtains that greatly improve the small tub/shower combinataion. Hotel provides nice Bath and Body Works toiletries. The hotel faces two busy freeways so if your sensitive to traffic noise (even late in the evening) take heed. I was not troubled by it, but, some light sleepers might be since the traffic in Houston never seems to let up.
I stayed on the Concierge level and it is card-key access only, which I do like for security. The Concierge Lounge is only open Sunday evening to Friday morning, but is well stocked and friendly. The Lounge it is smaller than most other Marriotts, but, enjoyable. The hotel also has a decent fitness center, 4 threadmills, multiple bikes, stairstepers and free weights and a nice size indoor/outdoor pool. Staff were friendly and helpful in all areas of the hotel during my stay.
