We stayed here overnite ..the room was very dirty and smelled of mold and old smoke. It was a non smoking room but there were burn marks all over the furniture and on the mattress and bedding. There were cracks in the walls filled with mold in the bathroom and mold around the tub and in the tiles on the floor. The noise was unbearable..we only got to sleep 4 1/2 hrs all nite and were told the people who made all the noise were related to the owner so they would not do anything.. a disgraceful statement to my way of thinking.. the worst thing tho was all the bed bug bites i got.. I sent a letter to management and enclosed pictures of all the mold in the bath and on the glass door.. it was 2 feet high and 1/4 inch thick.. with green mold..and the bed bug bites.... they have not had the decency to even respond to me. I honestly would not let my dog stay here.

Mad Rush for the Shuttle Bus

I booked this hotel for a night of sleep so I could fly out the next morning. We arrived late but the shuttle bus was still available to pick us up. It was nice to have a ride to the hotel but we put our lives in the driver's hands... he drove way too fast and it was a little scary. When we arrived, the hotel smelled extremely musty. While walking to our room and within the room, we noted that the hotel definitely needs updates. The halls and the room felt dingy, dark and dirty. After our 4 hours of sleep, we woke up to catch the shuttle bus which starts running at 4 am. We were the first ones out in the looby to catch the shuttle bus. More and more guests crowded the lobby awaiting the 6 am shuttle bus. We started to get concerned that we would not make it on the bus since there were so many people and only 2 small shuttle vans per 1/2 hour for 2 hotels. Some of the guests started moving outside to await the bus. Eventually the bus came and it was an all out sprint to make it on the shuttle. There was no line and no care of who arrived first to catch the bus. We had to argue with other guestsand the driver to make the bus even though we were the first ones out in the lobby. After only 4 hours of sleep, it was not a good way to start a vacation. If you are looking for a short 1 night stay, the hotel is ok for a couple hours of sleep. I would not choose this hotel for an extended stay. The hotel needs to set up a system for the morning shuttle system. It was mass chaos and was extremely frustraing and stressful. I would recommend having an area where guests could line up... that way it would be more fair to everyone and would not be a mad rush to get on... or provide more shuttles when needed.

The Clarion was much better than expected after all the sour reviews. The building shows some signs of it's age - but it was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The shuttle driver was exceptional. I would HIGHLY recommend the Clarion for an overnight - close to the airport - great for the prince.

After reading the terrible reviews here, I was really nervous abou staying at this hotel, but for what I wanted, it just fit, so I gave it a go. I wanted something near the hotel with a free hotel shuttle and a free shuttle to at least one shopping mall. For less than $60/night this hotel was a bargain. The shuttle driver, Will, was prompt and helpful always had a big smile for me. The lobby is big a spacious. A bit outdated, but I have seen hotels at $300/night which are worse. It was clean, filled with big comfy sofas and welcoming. Check in was easy and fast. I booked online and had requested a non-smoking handicapped room with direct outside access and I got it. The room was large and the linens and bathroom were clean. There was one tear in the sheets and several small ones in the bedspread, but I always remove the bedspread anyway. Everyone knows they are dirty, even if they look fine. There was a recliner in the room and a nice desk and office chair, plus an internet connection! Very cooll. The towels were like new, fluffy and clean smelling. They provide all of the standards, soaps and lotions plus a hair dryer and ironing board in the room. I was a bit worried about all of the security--there are two chains on the door, plus 2 more additional locks and three locks, plus a bar on the sliding glass windows--but as far as I could tell, the place was safe. I didn't see any activity that I felt was scary. No, it isn't the quietest street--it sits parallel to the freeway, but my room was one of the closest to the front of the building and it was very quiet. Free local calls and the shuttle--they'll take you anywhere you want to go within a 3 mile radius--make this a great deal. No, it isn't 5 star, but at those places you get nickeled-and-dimed for every amenity. Everything here was included. For the price and amenities, this is a good hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Liked — Business center with free computers, free shuttle anywhere in 3 mile radius
  • Disliked — all of the locks on the doors made me wonder...

Mud running out of the faucets

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night on a layover we had. It was nice and close to the airport but there are no places to eat anywhere around. When we arrived the hotel had our reservation but did not have a room saved for us. We were very understanding due to the increased number of refugees from New Orleans that were living in the Houston area. Management somehow found us a room so we were grateful. I went to take a shower and the water was not clear. As you can see from my pictures, there was quite a bit of mud/sediment running through the pipes. We ran the water for about an hour before complaining to management. They told us that someone was working on the pipes and to run the water until it went clear. We ran the water all night long and it was still brown in the morning. Needless to say, I was not able to take a shower in this murky water. What is the point of staying in a hotel if you can't even clean yourself?
