Had the chance to return to the BW in Hondo, Texas.

It is clean, staff is friendly and the rates are reasonable.

Also, the hall did not smell smoky this time.

I will be back and I recommend it.

Room Tip: Call for lower rates. Especially if your on a short notice trip.

If you are staying in the city limits of Hondo, this is the best option, by far. We had a King N/S room. It had a microwave, fridge, flat screen and excellent wifi. Quiet at night. Didn't try the pool, but saw several couples hanging out there. Starting the shower was a bit tricky (pull down the very end of the tub spout, where the water comes out). Front desk was very friendly and helpful. McDonalds next door and Wal-mart a short distance.

Newer hotel, nice rooms, tv channels are fine, breakfast didn't fit the hotel...minimal offerings. Staff is friendly. Best option in the area.

This Inn is off the road a bit however that helps to keep it quiet. The rooms are nice sized, clean and quiet. We were on the first floor and did not encounter any noise, children playing, etc. The front desk was very helpful and very polite. Will stay again when we travel to this area. The price was very reasonable for a newer hotel. The WiFi was very quick and acess was easy. All in all this is great hotel and made our trip easier.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2010

I stayed here on July 25th/26th in Room 212. The hotel is new, so there are no complaints about the overall condition of the property - its still in good shape (its probably no more than 1 year old), and is well-appointed. The rooms are a good size, and the beds are comfortable, but there are the following complaints:

1) The pillows are very, very small for the king-sized bed, and only three were available - went down to get another, which they didn't have, and had to get from another room. Still, the pillows still didn't quite work. I slept horribly because of this, and also because of....

2) The A/C hardly worked. I had the temp set down to 72-74 degrees, far cooler than what I'm used to, yet standing next to the unit, the air was not cold at all. To get any sort of cool air-flow, I had to crank the temp to below 70, and still it wasn't too cool.

3) One bedside light fixture wasn't working - either the bulb (compact florescent) was burned out, or the fixture was shorted-out.

4) The cable channels were pretty poor - two channels (the higher numbered ones) had no sound, 2-3 other channels were very grainy with the picture, and one channel had a looping screen. Hopefully they get a more reliable cable/satellite provider.

5) The exercise room is very poorly equipped, and small - one bike and one eliptical.

6) One of the pillows provided had what looked like blood smeared on the case - had that changed when when I got an extra pillow

7) Breakfast - this was perhaps the most disappointing. With maybe one exception, this was the worst excuse for a breakfast. A few types of cereal - warming milk in pitchers (not placed in a bucket of ice, or anything to keep it cool), one type of fruit (bananas only), one type of muffin, bread, and a waffle-maker (with non-existent waffle mix). I was really looking forward to eggs, or bacon, or at least biscuits/gravy. We wound up getting breakfast off-site at a Mexican restaurant near the H-E-B store.
