“Perfect for a Disney trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here in July when at Disneyland and arrived at the perfect time as Minnie and mickey were in the lobby to greet us! The hotel felt cosy and just like a massive log cabin, and the interior was not run down at all, it was lovely. It was a nice short stroll from the hotel to the park, and it was always a nice end to the day coming back to the hotel bar for a cocktail or a cuppa by the fire. Would choose sequoia over newport bay :).

This is a warm, welcoming Disney hotel in a forest setting, 5 mins walk through the grounds and over the bridge to the Disney Village and a further 5 minutes to the 2 Disney Parks.
We stayed in Big Sur Lodge outside of the main hotel situated in the pine forest. Our room was spacious and clean with 2 big double beds, decent sized bathroom and generally, well equipped. We were on the first floor of the lodge (a bit of a pain with 2 heavy suitcases and a pushchair but not that big a deal).
Check-in was fast and efficient, you get to choose your breakfast slot upon checking in - we opted for 7.30am slot - a good choice as the dining room wasn't that busy and you could grab breakfast (and go back for seconds!) without having to sharpen your elbows to get to the coffee machine! On that subject.. coffee and juice were good quality (even though they're from a vending machine), breakfast was ample; croissants, breads, cheese, meats, olives, yoghurts, fruit, cereal etc (although gets a little boring if you stay there for 5 days like we did - that said you can order a cooked breakfast for an additional charge) The characters at breakfast if you have kids in tow, a different one each day - in a dedicated area up from the breakfast room, the kids can have their photos taken and their autograph books signed.
Bar is cosy on a night. You get the best of this hotel at Christmas time, think roaring fire, mulled wine, Christmas tree etc.
Pool area is spotlessly clean and the pool temperature was absolutely fine - pool towels were available for a couple of euros - Swim aids/floats are available by the pool.
Hunters grill restaurant was pretty good quality, buffet style but plentiful choice even for the fussiest of kids.
Checking out was a breeze.
Disney Village: There's the obligatory Starbucks and Macdonalds there, Cafe Mickey always looked popular although we didn't go (looked a little too much like a canteen for us). We ate in Ludwigs castle (food ok nothing to shout home about, service was good) and Planet Hollywood (food good, good service but pricier but that's to be expected here) Be wary of Annettes Diner we heard of a few people getting pretty sick after they'd eaten there.
Disney parks were great, really festive, kids will love the Christmas 20th Anniversary parade (sorry mummies and daddies - you'll have to see every showing!) The lighting of the Christmas tree parade was pretty cool in the Town plaza too.
We went to Paris for the day jumped on the train at Chessy station in the Disney village, took around 40-45 minutes got out at Charles de Gualle etoile which is literally at the foot of the Arc d'Triomphe - worth doing when it's a stones throw away and really easy to get to.
We had a fantastic pre-Christmas trip and great practice for the real thing in the US when my kids get a couple more years on 'em. Enjoy!

The Sequoia Lodge is a lovely hotel but we never really managed to enjoy all that it had to offer (I never made it to either the pool or the bar) in our 3 night stay. With it being so close to the Disney parks and two other great Disney hotels, we really did only user as a place to sleep and have breakfast. That said, the position of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff were excellent. We had not been to DLP before and were given lots of impartial advice when we checked in. We did make breakfast bookings for 0730 but never made it on time as our two young children were so tired from the previous day and so comfy in their huge double bed, that we all overslept. Not to worry, the queues moved quickly and the breakfast supplies were constantly refreshed. Half Board Plus meal plans booked in advance meant that we hardly spent any extra on food whilst we were there. With a 2 year old, we didn't actually have meals bought for both of our children so were advised to eat in the buffets so that she could eat for free. No questions were asked in any of the buffet restaurants and she was even given a free soft drink. Wine prices were very reasonable and they had a good range in the lower price brackets.

Room Tip: Lodges are further away from hotel but make it a more of an adventure! It's only a few minutes w...

We were on the ground floor, well away from the hustle and bustle of the main reception.
Lovely clean rooms and sheets changed daily, no tea making facilities but a phone call to reception saw delivery of a kettle and extra pillows.
Buffet breakfast was plentiful and loads of choice , typical continental style but delicious ham and the pain au chocolate was best I've tasted.
Staff were friendly and helpfully and ready to help as one of our party was in a wheelchair.
The bar/lounge area was warm and toasty at night, huge roaring log fire. Can't wait to visit again.
A ten minute walk from disney village too.

We have just returned from a 3 night break at the Sequoia Lodge and have no complaints about this hotel. A swift and friendly check in upon arrival which included park tickets, breakfast time slots and directions. Advise you book an early breakfast slot (we opted for 0730) which was very quiet. It started to get busy around 0800, but as this was a quiet period anyway (midweek and not school holidays) it was not significant.

Characters arrived for photo opportunities every morning at the advertised time but we also booked breakfast at Cafe Mickey one morning which was really worthwhile.

We stayed in a Montana room in the main hotel which was very handy for breakfast, but we wouldn't have been disappointed with lodge accommodation. Our room was clean, comfortable but a little "tired" - towels were replaced every day and beds changed. There are no tea and coffee making facilities, we took a travel kettle which came in very handy after a long day at the park! We spent so little time in the hotel - really just to sleep, rooms were more than adequate. There is a nice bar in the hotel but we found it very busy and quite expensive.

The walk to the park took around 10 minutes. We stayed at the Magic Circus last year which involved getting on a shuttle bus to get to the park. Having now stayed at a park hotel, we would always choose this option. The extra hours that you get in the park are a little over rated as only a handful of rides were open. It defied all logic that the Santa Claus grotto didn't open until 1130! We started queuing at 1000 as we were told it was a 2 hour wait. By the time it opened there must have been 200 parents with push chairs and small children in the queue on what was a very cold day. Come on Disney.......that's half the day gone. Ask Santa Claus to get up a bit earlier!!

The only thing I would change about this trip is the coach transfer. The VEA coach shuttle that collected us from the hotel for our return trip had no reservation system so when it arrived, it had already called at some hotels and was almost full. Leave at least 3 hours to get to the airport in case you don't get on it. There were children sat on people's laps which is unacceptable.

Would definitely reccommend this hotel.

Room Tip: This hotel is so big, even if you stay in the main hotel (Montana rooms) you could be a fair distanc...

A good base for Disneyland Paris - on the plus side rooms are clean, tidy and a good size (based on our room in the main building). During Christmas the setting is very festive and the staff were efficient. On the down side a lot of facilities were closed (including Beavers Creek Tavern). There are limited facilities for children. As others have said everything is very expensive. Pleasant walk to the Village and Parks, quicker than the shuttle!
