“Great Texas atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2014

Tolbert's is know for its chili but has great burgers, salads, chicken fried steak. We are try fond of the fajitas and the chicken tortilla soup. Great beer selection and the best house margarita around. They always have a good daily special and live music in the evenings.

“This is a Great Place to Celebrate Texas!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

If you like Texas food, drink and hospitality, then Tolbert's is the place! I enjoy Tolbert's as they have a wide assortment of Texas Craft Beers on tap. But they are known for a great bowl of chili! But if you are not in the mood for chili, they have a really good menu that will help you find what you are in the mood for (I enjoyed their steaks, chicken tenders and pork chops). Tolbert's has been a staple of Main Street Grapevine for many decades, and must be visited so you can say you saw it all in Grapevine!

“Great chili and super cold beers! ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2014

Get the bowl of red and a Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro and life is good! Service in the bar was very attentive, polite and made conversation. Told us the history behind the Terlingua chili festival as well!

“Good food, spotty service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2014

All good chili-heads know where to get a good bowl of red. For those in Dallas, Tolbert's was that place for years. After a long hiatus, Tolbert's daughter reopened the place, but now located on historic Main Street in Grapevine.

The Good:
Chili is, arguably, what made Tolbert's in the first place. On a cold winter's day, there are few things better than this to warm your body. The setting, though large, is also appropriate. A large bar area dominates the back half of the restaurant - although during the day it is mostly set up for dining. There is a stone fireplace on the left that also offers warmth and comfort.

The "OK":
Some of the non-chili menu items are just a little above average. Tex-Mex items are average, with pico de gallo that doesn't quite taste like a proper Tex-Mex place would prepare it. Wait staff can sometimes be inattentive. We were there at lunch and the waitress was sort of slow and got our order partially wrong. Nothing drastic mind you, but not quite right. And important note: when customers are ordering spicy items like chili, it is helpful to be attentive with things like refilling ice tea and water. That IS important.

The "Meh":
Tolbert's offers live music 6 nights a week (every night but Monday). Sometimes that's cool, but often it is so loud you really can't talk over dinner. Beware that on some nights - usually Fridays and the weekend - there will also be a cover charge to get in. That immediately makes your dinner $7 to $10 (or more) per person more expensive.

“Yummo”

Went here for lunch while on a trip to Grapevine with friends. The food was delicious and fresh tasting. I really would recommend giving this place a try.
