“Great beach to swim!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2014

We came at about 11am on the 4th of July and got a great parking spot. The beach is sandy and clean. There were kayak and canoe rentals available that were very reasonably priced and we had a blast!! There could have been more restrooms available and maybe some picnic tables or more shade available. Other than that it was a blast and I will be back!!!

“Camping in the Park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014

We just spent 3 days camping in a tent in Meadowmere Park, campsite #58. Great little campsite sheltered by trees on two sides, the beach appox. 100 yards down and only 20 feet from the roadside parking (you don't have to lug your gear too far). We were there Wed.- Fri., so not a lot of folks in the park or on the lake. There are no RV hook-ups or dump stations, just campsites. It was rather quiet and relaxing, except for the jet engines from DFW Airport. Although not loud, my wife kept thinking it was thunder!
As other raters/reviewers have said, wear water shoes!! The lake itself is about 10-12 feet low, creating lots of shoreline to explore, but also exposing a lot of glass and cans from boaters years ago. If you can, bring bikes. Lots of roads and trails in and around the Meadowmere area.
The front gate folks are extremely friendly and accommodating. They do sell bottled water and ice at the front gate. Even if you forget something, you're only 15 minutes away from grocery stores, Walmart and Target.
Campsites are $25 per night. Daytime visits are $10 per car/truck, $5 per motorcycle.

William, we are very pleased that you enjoyed your camping stay! We are working on shoreline clean up and appreciate your patience as we have never had this much exposure around the water. We hope you will camp again with us soon!

“outdoor summer fun”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

My husband and I visited with our 4 year old. We went with the intention of renting a kayak for the three of us. I am not sure if there is more than one vendor out there but the vendor advertised on Grapevine Lake's website only has one two person kayak with space in the middle for a duffer. The kayak was out so our LO played at the playground and walked through the water and had a really good time.
We will go back and I will definately take
-chairs with shade as there aren't any benches at the playground for parents to sit and watch their children (we sat on the "curb").
-Water shoes - i saw some glass and i saw pets so i imagine there is pet waste
-shade for the beach
-sunscreen
-insect repellent
-picnic blanket
-life jacket for our LO

Next time you are in the park stop by the gate house for your kayak rental. We have plenty of two seat kayaks available for you to take your little one out on the water. Sorry about the confusion with the other vendor. Also, if you want to be sure to get a covered picnic table we would be glad to help you reserve one. We look forward to helping your family make wonderful memories at the lake.

We look forward to seeing you this summer and don't forget we have sports equipment for you to borrow, that way, you can enjoy our horseshoe pits, disc golf and volleyball courts. Just ask our friendly park attendants (it's free)!

“Watch out for the broken glass on the beach....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Gave this a poor rating because of the condition of the beach area. Recently visited on a Sunday evening while looking for a nice spot to have a family dinner in the fresh air. That it was. We did enjoy eating by the lake. It is right on Lake Grapevine and has pretty, panoramic views. There is a ton of open space and plenty of parking spots. Easy to find, minimal cost ($5 per car). We found a picnic table in the shade (there are some shady spots, but not many) and enjoyed our family dinner. There is no store for provisions, so make sure you bring everything. There are places to tent camp. Primitive, no electric, but there is someone on site 24/7. The owner in the booth was sweet and took her time explaining what they had to offer. Used both restrooms and they were both clean and had toilet paper. The one closest to the gate is sort of an open air building...a good thing on a hot day....not so sure on a rainy one. We saw a beautiful Blue Heron land and take a water break not many yards from us and on our way out...a young deer popped out of the thicket. The Negatives..... The boat ramps were closed due to low water and there were signs posted warning to take precautions against West Nile. They have recently had samples test positive from this park. The beach needs a serious clean up. Broken glass everywhere. Water parks search your coolers, we think they should, too. We were excited to get to the water and even wanted the kids to try the kayaks, but nixed it when we realized how much glass there was to contend with. Nothing like a nice big laceration to ruin the rest of your kid's summer in the water! They stated that dogs are not allowed in the swimming areas in their rules and yet there were just as many paw prints as there were people prints. Too bad because this is a really nice spot and we would have considered frequenting more often and even imagined how fun it would be to bring friends, but this one is off our list for the summer because of the glass-filled beach. Just can't recommend this for swimming or wading/ water play with good conscience....would hate for any little ones (or big ones, for that matter) to have an injury on the beach or in the water. We might go back just to look at the lake or to picnic or maybe tent camp in the fall.
