“A Great Place!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I was at the Gaylord for a conference. The hotel and the conference facilities are amazing. I got lucky with my room, which was on the 9th floor with an outdoor balcony overlooking the lake. I made full use of the fitness centre, pools, restaurant and bars; I was not disappointed at all. I felt welcomed and comfortable during my stay. (Not sure about the wifi - it was free for us because of the conference)

But why did I give only 4 stars? The staff. The main hotel staff were fabulous, extremely helpful. However there was a small minority who overstepped the mark. A few of the catering staff appeared to be over anxious and unapologetic at all times. Whisking a way unfinished plates of food without asking if we were finished. I had a serving plate taken away when I was in the process of getting food from it. On one occasion a bar staff member made a comment about how we must earn a lot to be staying at the hotel! Then there was the vacuuming the hallway outside the rooms at 7am; who does that?

Also, beware of the transport staff at the front. We were quoted a ridiculous price for a taxi to Dallas and Forth Worth. When we asked the concierge, he ordered a taxi at half that price.

Room Tip: Try for a room on the 9th floor. They have outdoor balconies overlooking the lake which you will be...

The Gaylord Texan is a megalith of a hotel. 5 stories,5 dining options, shopping, spa and horticulture all under a huge dome that is so tall, you forget you are outside. Except in the summer, or if it is raining, or cold or any kind of inclement weather. It is truly an engineering marvel. It is a little pricey but with so manly amenities to choose from including a small waterpark 3/4 of a mile away that belongs to the hotel and both indoor and outdoor pools at the hotel, spa and restaurants, it is reasonable. There are piano players at happy hour, and summertime fireworks on the weekend.

If you are going to be doing things outside of the hotel property, it would not be worth the money.

If you are going to stay onsite...good value.

There is a convention center and many conventioneers, as well as huge numbers of families. Don't expect quiet or cozy...this is Texas in all its showy best.

The rooms that face the interior of the dome, with a view of all the plants, restaurants, etc. are $30/more than those that face outward, and they have a small balcony. Interesting to watch people from the balcony, and I think worth it. The rooms themselves are nice..updated, flatscreen, nice bathrooms.

The absolute worst part of this place: The lack of soundproofing between rooms. You can hear the little league team next door squealing and screaming and grandma and grandpa talking to each other on the other side in loud voices ( especially if they are on their cell phones....).
Hotel security was prompt, however, in stopping the running, screaming kids in the hallway at late hours...

Room Tip: Don't stay at the intersections of the hallways where the elevators are...too noisy. Try to get...

My family and I stayed here one night. We wished we would have had more time to stay because we had a great time! If you have kids they will love this place. There are lots of things to see and do while here. They have two outdoor pools and one indoor pool. The outdoor pools are great. Especially the one with the slide and lazy river. The restaurants serve great food and there is lots of variety. The rooms were very nice and the service was great from everyone.

If you don't mind spending lots of money this is a GREAT place to take your family.

We returned here for our mini summer vacay and loved it just as much as the first time. Paradise Springs is FABULOUS and always very clean with plenty of chairs. We have never had to wait more than a couple of minutes for the shuttle to/from the hotel. We took friends this year for their first visit and they fell in love too. We plan to return to experience the huge Christmas Extravaganza and will make Gaylord Texan an annual summer visit.

Room Tip: I would recommend spending the extra to get an Atrium view and to book early. This place fills up f...

We have stayed at the Gaylord on a few occasions - we lived in the North Dallas area and have stayed in the Christmas season as well as in the summer to enjoy the pool area. The Water park was really great - I thought it would be more of a pain to take the shuttle from the hotel to the park area but it really was fine. The staff is all very attentive. The prices for the restaurants are fairly high and the food was good, but not exceptional. We have had several different rooms be sure to ask for one away from the elevator. We actually heard it going up and and down all night.
At Christmas it is VERY crowded but really beautifully done.

Family needed a quick trip for the weekend and after some pretty extensive research, we chose this place. Not one thing to complain about. There is literally something there for everyone. Great staff who that us very accommodating and a sweet location. Restaurant prices on location are pretty high, but to be expected. Easy to find several off site options for any appetite. Look forward to a return trip.

Room Tip: Be sure to take advantage of Paradise Springs!!!

Stayed here with my husband for a weekend getaway and was highly disappointed. I was at first impressed by the lobby and the valet .... Very nice .. Checkin was rude ... The room that we paid 200 a night had a view of a wall ???? The thermostat must have been broke since we put it at 65 the WHOLE trip and was still sweating .... You could hear everything all night ... People in and out ... Clicks from pipping .... Toilets flushing ... Room service was a bust and highly over priced ....TASTELESS ... Oh and don't forget on top of the 200 A night .. They have resort fees .. Texas taxes etc... The valet or 27 a night ... Is not worth it ... I have stayed at many hotels that are less with more accommodations ... Oh ya they do have restaurants inside ... 30$ + a head ... GOOD LUCK
