We had a few hours extra during the Labor Day holiday, so we decided to drive up to the Gaylord Texas to check it out. We originally wanted to eat at the Italian restaurant, but the next reservation was at 9:15pm. It was 530pm, and we were ready to eat now! If you've been to the Gaylord, you know that the entire resort is enclosed under a huge roof. They have a beautiful indoor river that runs throughout the resort with plants all around to make you feel like it's outdoors, but with perfect temperature.
We happened across the Riverwalk Cantina and there was only a 5 minute wait. I'm not a fan of mexican food, but the atmosphere was so nice, we decided to eat here. We requested for a table right next to the indoor river. How pleasant this was! The temperature outside was 100 degrees and inside the Gaylord resort, it was in the low 70's.
My husband and my daughter split the salmon and I tried the steak salad. They enjoyed their salmon. My steak salad was great - they gave me a lot of steak! My daughter also had the tortilla soup, but it was a bit too spicy for her. For dessert, I enjoyed their small helping of margarita cheesecake. My husband tried the tres leches. Finally, my daughter ordered the Kung Fu chocolate chip cookie. The cheesecakes and tres leches were small - perfect for tasting. On the other hand, the Kung Fu chocolate chip cookie was HUGE! The server was very friendly and took care of us well. I expected to pay more since the restaurant was inside the Gaylord, but the prices were very reasonable.
We were happy we ate early because when we left, we saw at least 30 people just waiting to sit down for their dinner.
