We were in Granbury for a wedding. Using my corporate rate, the price at the Holiday Inn Express was much better than that of the designated hotel (The Comfort Suites).
This is a Holiday Inn Express in a small town, so don't expect too many frills. Our room was pretty basic, but we had a microwave and fridge - which was helpful for keeping cold water on hand. Besides the room rate, another reason we chose to stay here was because of the outdoor pool. Don't bother. It's about as big as a bathtub and completely unappealing. It is enclosed by a big brick wall and up against the road - there were not going to be any relaxing afternoons by the pool.
At the time that we were there, the hotel was replacing its carpet. Based on other reviews, this is probably a good thing for the long run. However, if you are looking to stay there anytime soon be well aware that there is a very, very strong smell of chemicals and glue. It gave us a headache the first night and we had to sleep with the windows open to get some circulation.
There are several other hotels in the immediate vicinity including La Quinta and the newly built Comfort Suites. Based on what we saw of our friends' rooms as well as the amenities at the Comfort Suites, we would suggest staying there - especially if the prices are identical. Right near all three hotels is a golf course/country club, which is very nice too if you need to get out!
Overall, it was an okay stay. Nothing to write home about.
