“This restaurant is closed!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

This restaurant is closed! We drove to Gonzales to get out of San Antonio and to check out some museums and historical areas....and eat some local grub. Just from word of mouth, we had decided to try Toni's or Gonzales Food Market. The decision was made for us when we found Toni's boarded up. Check out my review of Gonzales Food Market.

“Home Cooking, Small Town at it's finest!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

If you ask the locals or anyone who knows Gonzales, Texas where to eat lunch they are going to say "Toni's". It's a cafeteria style set up owned by the Espinosa family. It's kind of like church, where all the locals sit in the same spots everyday, but there is plenty of room for everyone. Food is good, hot and the service is great. Ms Minnie will meet you with a smile and a "hi, sweet baby". Michael cooks up BBQ daily and there are some stand by favorites served daily too but overall the rest of the meats, veggies, and salads vary. Meat, 3 sides and a bread. Some of the favorites are pot roast, beef tips, turkey and dressing, anything Mexican and hamburger steak. They almost always have cherry and peach cobbler. Toni's is only open at lunch and is closed the first Saturday of the month and on Sundays. Toni's will also cater your party or cook a special something for someone. It is moderately priced. Take a special trip to Gonzales where the first battle of Texas Independence was fought, our beautiful historic homes, the "Old Jail", the Braches House and Toni's, the best place around to eat a great home cooked meal for lunch. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
