“Susan and Morris, they're something special”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2012

My husband and I came to Glen Rose, Texas and stayed here on a whim, maybe around 7 years ago when we were undergrads looking to get away for the weekend and check out the curiosities of Glen Rose, Texas. We were so enamoured by the city, we're looking to purchase a vacation/retirement home on the Paluxy. We caught the fossil hunting bug from Mr. Bussey when we first came and had so much fun staying in the Cowboy Bunk. I love it that we don't have breakfast with any of the other tenants, as I am not a morning person at all and can't be counted on to have a coherent conversation prior to 10 am. We've brought our girls back each time and my oldest came when she was 4 and still remembered the toys Mr. Bussey gave her. I enjoy reminiscing with Mrs. Bussey about the changes in Glen Rose, and love their recommendations.

The location can't be beat since it's within walking distance to downtown Glen Rose (which sparkles at night and has a nice little night life now) and picking pecans when they're in season was really fun. Also, going fossil hunting with Mr. Bussey was especially fun despite the warm weather.

I really enjoy our jaunts to Glen Rose and the customer service is exceptional and there's no comparison. Our daughters enjoy pampering Abby the dog and we enjoy the solitude of the BnB with just enough pampering from our very attentive hosts.

Also, the fossil hunts and Mr. Bussey's knowledge of the area and in paleontology are very interesting and educational.

Room Tip: The cowboy has much for little ones but if you have a family over four, try the Victorian. I like th...

This is such a delightful family, we enjoy all our guests. Glad you enjoyed being near downtown. Our fish pond is full of gold fish again and we took the fence down. Hope you can come see us again soon.

You and your daughter are always welcome at our home. You are like some of our guests that are more like family to us! I know you love walking down town and especially the Storie Book Cafe! Hope to see you again soon! Always have a full glass at the Stone Hut!

I had such a great time here at Bussey's. They treated us like family. The room we stayed in, The Cajun Cabin, was unbelievable. Every single detail you could imagine was there. I won't spoil the fun for the next guest, but you won't believe what happens in the room when you turn out the lights! She even made us homemade cookies! I really can't wait to go back. These two will make you feel right at home. We were in town for the annual Paluxy Pedal.

Looking forward to the annual Paluxy pedal again! We enjoyed sharing our home with you. The Cajun cowboy room awaits you! The cozy Victorian also has great atmosphere! Cookies or brownies for desert, sometimes something special awaits you in the evening under Crystal cover!

My wife and I were in Glen Rose to do some bike riding in prep for an upcoming race, and wanted something besides the typical chain hotel. We had a very nice stay at Bussey's SSBnB, and would certainly stay again if we were in the area. The location is great, within a couple of blocks of 'downtown' and the square, and just a block from a nice restaurant. The room (we stayed in the Cozy Victorian) was plenty big, cozy and well appointed. Though this isn't your standard bed and breakfast, with a prepared morning meal, that actually worked perfect for us as we were on the road by 7am both mornings (to beat the heat) and really had no time or desire for a formal breakfast. Plenty of fixins, both for breakfast and a non-stop array of snacks, was provided in the 'hospitality room', just off our suite and available 24 hours. The highlight of our stay was the hospitality of the Busseys, going out of their way to assure we had what we needed, including an ample supply of ice early in the morning. There's no TV, but we survived, though the free WiFi was much appreciated. All and all, a very enjoyable weekend.

Room Tip: Either room would be a good choice, though the Cozy Victorian appears a little bigger.

We wanted to take a trip for just the three of us, Grandmother-Mother-Daughter, so we decided to go with Bussey's Bed & Breakfast. They gave us a discount on renting both rooms, but you can easily pass between them if you have both. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly. They have improved the place recently, making a pleasant hospitality room that can be accessed easily so that they can provide food and we can enjoy it at leisure without being disturbed. We sat on the lawn & porch and enjoyed, we walked through town and visited many interesting shops with friendly people, we walked to the Big Rocks Park and enjoyed watching the sun set and the moon rise. We enjoyed it so much we returned to see the sun rise in the morning. It's a beautiful area, the innkeepers are nice and hospitable, the room is pleasant with its electric fireplace and a pleasant selection of books and games. Very refreshing weekend. I think we'll stay here again!

My daughter & I went here for a Mother-Daughter weekend two years ago and enjoyed it so much we came back for another weekend and found that they'd made many upgrades and improvements. It was an enjoyable weekend, from the friendly but not intrusive hosts, to the pleasant & comfortable room, to the variety of foods available for breakfast and the opportunity to fix those in our own time frame, we really enjoyed the place and plan to return next year.

We stayed in the Cajun Cowboy room. It had everything we needed! Even a few supplies we forgot! I loved the country music left in the room. The old westerns were great too! There are supplies to make your own breakfast, but we did not use any of them. The room also comes with a well stocked fridge.

The room was cool and dark and we slept great! The bed was comfortable. The Busseys are awesome hosts! We would not stay anywhere else! It's like staying with family.

We sat outside in the garden and enjoyed the fish ponds. It's a great place to relax!

The Busseys also recommended great places to eat: Turn & Burn and the Riverhouse Grill (which is across the street!).

Bussey's Something Special is very close to the square. We were easily able to walk down to the square and visit the shops.

Just remembering good guest! Glad you enjoyed the pond and gardens. Yes, we also enjoy walking downtown or to a nearby place to eat! It has been a long time, hoping to see you both again soon!
