“Wonderful Place to Relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2012

This is a perfect place to wind down and relax. We stayed in the Spring Cabin. It overlooks the river and is completely private. We spent most of our time on the front porch either reading or sitting in the hot tub. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and pots. The entire cabin was spotless. We really enjoyed reading the guest book and the comments from other guests. We will certainly go again!

We stayed in the Cliff House cabin a couple of years ago, but it was one of our most memorable weekends. We appreciate the small things that John and Karen provided, like the binoculars to view the turtles in the river below. They took the time to welcome us and show us around the rest of the property. They even told us where to go in town to find a nice bottle of wine and made sure the hot tub was ready for us!

IF you want to be able to have some peace and relaxation then you better hurry up and get here! In 30 years of weekend (or weekday) get aways this place has been the best. Who knew that such a simple rustic setting could rejuvinate a soul and a marriage. The owners couldnt be more warm or inviting. You cant just come once. You will be planning your next trip before you even leave. And the little town of Glen Rose couldnt be more picturesque. And as long as you dont play beat the bank with you finances you will have no problems staying here I am sure.

I'm writing partly as a response to a previous review. My husband and I have stayed at the Paluxy cabins multiple times over several years. We have always had a great experience and the owners, John and Karen, have always been tremendous! Very welcoming, very warm and very accommodating. I can assume there must be more to the story of the bad review because that just doesn't sound like them. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway from the hubbub of normal life. Very private, scenic, quiet... and, oh yeah, the hot tub!!

We stayed at these cabins in May and it was great. Our only complaint was about the way they removed the money from my account, but it all worked out OK even though it's a business account. But, we tried to stay again and apparently they don't appreciate return customers. By email we asked if we could send a check in to hold the cabin for us and was told by email "no problem" . Then less than a week from our reservation they removed money from my business account with no authorization (they used our CC info from the last visit) from me at all. When my wife called them, the man was very rude to her and said it was our fault, when she said just to cancel our reservation he said it was less than 7 days to the reservations so he had to charge us anyway.

The cabins are great, but the owners are very rude and ruthless. BE VERY VERY WARY OF THESE PEOPLE!!!

This was the most relaxing, cleanest cabin ever! We stayed in the Cliff Cabin built in 2002 and it was beautiful! The first thing that comes to mind when describing this cabin was, clean clean clean! The owners obviously care about the property and made every effort to keep each cabin secluded from the other. Each cabin has a hot tub, and a nice wooden porce to relax on. The bed was king size and very comfortable. It was a nice suprise to find out the kitchen was supplied with cups, silverware, plates, salt and pepper, knifes, and more. We also got the privilage to meet Barnie the raccoon that lives on the property.
This was the best stay ever and we will go back again!

  • Liked — The whole thing!!!!
  • Disliked — Shower was small, but what do you expect...

John and Karen Wells have put alot of effort into this set of lovely cabins southwest of Fort Worth in Glen Rose Texas. The setting is natural, secluded and welcoming. Doing business with Karen and John is a breeze. The Cedars Cabin, one or the four on property, was just what we needed for a relaxing, romantic 15th anniversay get-away. The interior appointments were very nicely done, comfortable, tasteful and functional. The break fast service of muffins and juice was underwhelming, but other breakfast cafe's nearby offer great options, as well as the well appointed kitchenet in the cabin to make your own yummy food. The private hot-tub on the porch was in top notch condition and just what we needed for a relaxing and romantic mood. The upstairs king size bedroom offered ample space to spread out and the sunset view off the upper balcony with a glass of champagne killer in June.
Hats off to John and Karen, I'm tellin' my friends ( or maybe keep it secret!) that Paluxy Riverbed cabins is the place to enjoy in Glen Rose!
