The new Holiday Inn Garland off PGBT is a great location, and a great value. I booked two ajoining rooms with two queen beds since a Suite was not available. This this is a new hotel, the rooms, decor, etc. were all in excellent condition. The beds have two different types of pillows for those who like firm or soft; nice feature. It has an indoor pool and hot tub which is especially nice in the winter. It has a very small workout room; two treadmills, one eliptical machine, and one stationary bike.
Onenegative would be the Saturday breakfast buffet. Arriving at 9:00 am, there was no bacon, and only 3 biscuits with a small amount of gravy left. When asked if more would be coming, the reply was "no that is all there is left." Big surprise for those that came after us to eat, and there were more that came. They did offer scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, sausage, and Texas shaped waffles (a little too large and batter tasting). I did have to go to other tables and snag silverware from the tables, and then asked the staff for one more. One wait staff was on his PC at the other side of the room. The receptionist had to even go over to ask him to get a table ready for the next guests who came in to eat. The cost is $8.95 not including drinks. Also, the wait staff working (1 male, 1 female) were not in Holiday Inn attire; street clothes. I'd think those representing the brand Holiday Inn would also be in dress shirt with the Logo.
The waiting area off the dining had good seats, but located too far from a fireplace. When asked if the fireplace could be turn on, I was informed it was not working for whatever reason. Isn't this a new hotel?
Overall, it was a great stay with minor details that I'm sure will improve; hopefully.
