Very nice lobby and grounds, too cold for a trip to the pool although it was very tempting. The pool is heated for winter, temperature was okay, I couldn't imagine getting out and making the run back to the lobby for warmth, none of the outdoor heater posts were on. The room was a bit outdated, bathroom a little tight, but a heck of a view of the gulf of mexico! Front desk was very friendly, no lines at check in or out. We visited the bar here too, overpriced but good service. Had a strawberry margarita, Mai tai, and we tried the chocolate cake, it was a very generous portion, too much for us to finish, was good. It was a little odd that the bar is a pathway from the kitchen to the steakhouse. There was a lounge singer who was talented. Security was present on the hotel grounds in full uniform, felt safe. Valet stand guys were good with giving out directions. As far as I could tell the hotel occupancy during my stay was very low, hardly any people walking around, which is fine with me, i like privacy

Hotel is way over rated. The grounds are very nice. The lobby was very clean and the staff was helpful. Pool was nice. Pool staff was very good. From here it goes too bad. Rooms are very old and in need of a serious upgrade. AC did not work. It was fixed but took several calls and two service trips. Bathroom is very nasty. Plumbing fixtures were dirty and loose. Very dark bathroom. The shower curtain was almost to the point of coming off. Beds are old and uncomfortable with a terrible sag in the middle. Pillows were a joke. TV is outdated and remote did not work very well. The door jam allows about 1 inch of airspace to the bottom of door. This allows you to hear every sound from the hallway. Somebody could even stick a camera and take a pick of your room from the hallway. I had to stuff a towel in the space at night.
To give the hotel credit, they did discount my room rate to compensate for the AC problems. Will be my last stay here unless they upgrade the rooms!

The rooms were large and comfortable bed. Older rooms though, but great view and had a blcony which I used. I would stay here again, great service. The H2O bar as a hit with our party here on a conference.

All the hotel rooms have a view of the gulf of Mexico. At sunset, nice colors cast on the balcony, although you may not be able to see the Sun directly. In the morning, you can see the sunrise in your bed. The hotel itself is beautiful. Lush green landscape, nice heated pool with swim up bar, water slide, hot tub. Parking is easy in the free self parking. Rain Forest Cafe and IHOP are right next door. There is also Landry's Seafood Grill.

The front desk staff is very nice. When we checked in, there was some wait. The front desk offered bottled water while we waited in line to check in.

There were some guests making loud noises late in the evening, maybe guests from a wedding party. To be fair, it is not the fault of the hotel.

There was a charge on my credit card from the hotel that should not be there. After I called the hotel, they corrected and refunded it immediately.

Overall, San Luis is a great place to stay in Galveston.
