“Make sure to get a copy of check in receipt they make you initial after your check in, and have desk clerk initial all changes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2012 via mobile

We loved the hotel, it was nicely updated, clean with a fridge and microwave, plus great sit on balcony. It was our anniversary so the desk clerk told us if we signed up for their priority club he could give us a room upgrade at the price of the standard room. He put us in room 701, great room. He scratched out and replaced the price of the room at the lower rate and had me initial the check in receipt, but at check out they tried to charge us the higher rate. Then the desk clerk got the manager and she came out with receipt I had initialed and basically said we changed the amount, that it didn't look like the guy that checked us in handwritting. Please tell me how I could have changed something that was in their possesion not mine. She said we will honor it but will be calling him to check if he did this. That ruined our day and pissed me off. So make sure at your initial check in to get a copy of the reciept with the agreed room rate and have the desk clerk sign and initial all changes he makes. She basically called us liars and they were the ones that had the initial check in paper with the room rate scratched out by their desk clerk, I wasn't given a copy but I will get one from now on. Plus watching my checking account right now because the final receipt and my account charged are not the same, waiting for final to see if changes or there will be another argument. Otherwise the hotel was great, at least rm 701 was.

We moved to this hotel on March 2 for 1 night after staying at The Commodore - a sad story on its own. We have stayed at Holiday Inn properties in several states - they are always, without fail, courteous, helpful and friendly. This is the 2nd time we've stayed at this particular Inn and the 2nd time we've had issues with having no hot water. The desk was prompt in answering our call for hot water, but told us (as they did last time) that it has to pump up from the basement and just takes a while. We let the water run over 10 minutes, twice, and only managed to get lukewarm water. A lukewarm shower is better than a cold shower, for sure. Oh, and the balcony railing for room 725 is loose - don't lean against it. And the deadbolt lock to the adjoining room does not fully engage!!

At about midnight the night from hell began . . . NEIGHBORS! We were awakened by someone trying to open our door - several times. They finally gave up and, I guess, noticed that they were at the wrong door. They finally gained access to their assigned room and the slamming and banging began. I have never in my life had neighbors who banged doors and stomped, shouted and laughed (and these are just the things I can write publicly) for 4 solid hours. We called the front desk who promptly sent someone to knock on the door and ask them to quiet down - which lasted until they heard the elevator door down the hall close - then it started up again. That's when these people started trying to get into our room through the adjoining suite door. Failing in that endeavor, they began the campaign . . quiet for 15 minutes then slamming doors, laughing and running through the room. This kept on until 5 in the morning, at which time we got up and left. Our only consolation was that these idiots sure wasted a good nights sleep playing games.

SO - to the idiots who stayed in Room 724 at the Holiday Inn Resort on Galveston Island on March 2-3 - - - GROW UP!

HOLIDAY INN - If you read this, I think a full refund would be appropriate.

Room Tip: This is a great place to stay with an awesome view of the gulf - but don't go when it's crow...

I have stayed here several times and always am very pleased with the hotel and the employees. The view of the Gulf is fantastic from the higher floors. Nice refrig and micro in the room. Nice coffee amentities. Friendly, helpful staff.

Room Tip: I prefer the upper floors for the best view. Also, I choose the rooms toward the East side of hotel...

The hotel is well located and easy to find.
The room is confortable, but if you are under the 4th floor you will have problems to see the seashore.
We stayed only one night, but for bad lucky, the elevator next to our room broked this day. So we have to go to the other side of the corridor to take the other elevator.
The basic $10 breakfast should offer more things. It was difficult to order adiciontal itens to breakfast, because the staff was not prepared or seemed to be too busy to gave us attention, althought the place was almost empty.

Room Tip: If you will pay more for the front room, make sure you are staying above thir floor.

We stayed at this Holiday Inn on the Seawall for a quick overnight just a few days ago. The hotel was chosen for us by Priceline for a farily decent discount. We were assigned a room on the 3rd floor, very near the elevator. I thought this might end up being noisy, but it wasn't at all. The room was pretty nice...looked to have been updated recently. The bathroom was clean and a decent size...mini toiletries provided by Bath & Body Works. Outside the bathroom was a small vanity area where the coffee pot sat, but was a great space for doing your hair or makeup if someone else was using the bathroom. The room had a safe and fridge, which we did not use. There was also a flat panel TV, desk, chair w/ ottoman and 2 double beds. There seemed to be a little too much furniture in the room for it's size, but it was just two of us so it didn't really matter. The room also had a balcony facing the ocean, but we did not use it since it was chilly and quite windy when we were there. Check in was fast...we checked in around 8pm...and the man at the desk was very friendly and professional. Check out was just as fast and friendly. We were out by 7:30 the next morning. All in all, this hotel was great for the price we got it for on Priceline, and I wouldn't heitate to stay again. Also, there is a restraunt and bar/night club at the hotel...we did not use either one but the restraunt looked nice and the front desk attendant said there was going to be a great cover band in the bar/club the night we were there. We were just too tired to check it out though.
A couple of dining tips in the area...DiBella's for lunch or dinner...very SMALL neighborhood Italian restraunt and it was delicious! It's a place that is definitely where the locals go...call ahead for a reservation because it really is a small place. Very causal though, not fancy...and less than 4 miles from the hotel. Also, try Sunflower Bakery and Cafe. We had breakfast here and it was delicious...I had the French toast and my boyfriend had the grilled polenta cakes. Both were great...and the treats in the bakery case looked wonderful! This is also a "locals" place in a neighborhood and only about 4 or 5 miles from the hotel....it's on the strand side of the island rather than the seawall.

Room Tip: A higher floor (3rd or above) will provide better views of the ocean. All rooms will overlook the l...

The management was great, upgraded us to 8th floor due to anniversary time, everyone friendly, helpful, was clean, service great. We couldn't have asked for a better stay, room, whole deal. We would go back in a heart beat, our balcony view of ocean was a welcome sight daily. We had 2 Queens so room was more than we needed.

Room Tip: all have balcony with ocean view but for best views need to be at least on 5th floor up, only has 8...

Good Seawall location and all the rooms front the beach. Great place to stay and leave your car and ride free shuttle to catch a cruise. All the rooms are updated (probaly thanks to Hurricane Ike) and the bar is a cool place to hang.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor
