“Location location location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

Have been coming to Galveston for years and am amazed at how high prices have gotten. $200 for a room here, although it did include cruise parking. The location is perfect, view is great, staff helpful, room clean but certainly not a $200 hotel. I priced all the hotels in Galveston and this was the best deal I could get. Taxis on cruise days are very hard to get. We will stay a pre - cruise night in Galveston again in January, but will use cruise parking and not worry about cabs. For vacations we will start to look further down the coast for more affordability.

There were four of us sharing a room (double beds) and surprisingly enough, it was great. We had a good time. The room was clean. The beds were clean (new beddings) and comfortable. We enjoyed the balcony and ocean view. The sunrise was spectactular! The hotel is centrally located and walking distance to nearly every attraction and eatery on the beach. The service was wonderful. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The parking was not the greatest and the elevator was slow but even that was workable. The breakfast was not very good but I was not surprised. I will go back again.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are great. They all have a balcony view facing the beach.

Looking for an amazing ocean view? Commodore has it! Security? This hotel enforced the tightest security I have experienced. The non-smoking policy is a plus! The hotel provides a place or site for people who smoke. The staff are friendly, and helpful. Our room was clean, and well stock with necessities. My minor complaints are the wifi functions and the changes of the water temperature while taking a shower.

Room Tip: Fourth floor has the best ocean view and the swimming pool. You can take a pictures from the balcon...

For budget friendly with a beach view, this is a good find. Room was clean, with a beachy cottage theme. Yes it's noisy - traffic along seawall doesn't stop. The patio is nice to sit and relax, watch the ocean & the traffic. Pool area was clean & nice. The parking can be difficult especially with people taking up 2 parking stalls. There was a terrible noise with the pipes when we showered. If it wasn't for the view & location along seawall, the parking and pipe noise would bump this down to a poor rating.
We didn't watch tv, use the wifi, eat the cookies or breakfast. We were too busy on seawall.

THe view from our balcony was wonderful. The staff were friendly and helpful. THe milk and cookies daily at 5 were pleasant. The beds were the worst I believe I have ever slept on in a hotel. I felt like I was in a hole. They were soft but broken down. THe room had a bad odor and damp with mildew on walls. The cable did not work for most of our stay.THe pool is also good. Breakfast is less than lacking.

We have stayed many times here; even though an older hotel, the rooms have always been clean. Cannot beat the price for a place right across from the beach!! This time around, the front desk was TREMENDOUS! I had booked thru Galveston.com and had to change my original date 3 months prior to our stay. Well that information wasn't conveyed to the Commodore but they were quickly able to provide us a room for our entire visit!! If your looking for 4 star accomodations, room service and such; go down the street to the Galvez, but if your looking for a great inexpensive place to stay while on vacation, this is the place!

This was not a hotel that I would recommend to anyone.
Customer Service is a huge part of the hospitality business and this definitely lacks in customer service.
The front desk was horrible and the housekeeping staff was screaming at each other using profanity in front of the guests and some of those guests were young children.

The pool attendants were rude and ugly and would constantly scream at the people at the pool . I get that for safety reason some people were doing wrong things, but handle that discreetly and go talk to those guests, instead of screaming all crazy and loud while other were trying to relax by the pool.

I would not recommend this place at all, spend the extra money and go stay somewhere else.
