“Kids complained when we had to leave for the Hotel after 4 days...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

Although at the far end of the island, Seaside is a clean property close to the quiet end of the beach. The previous reviewer is right about the speed trap in Jamaica Beach. Be aware. The kids loved the resort so much that I got honest complaints about the Hilton down the street and "why do we have to stay here". I had to tell them that the Hilton is nice, but they wanted to go back to the resort. Nuff said.

Room Tip: Could use on site gym and better food... but all and all, I love this place!

This resort is next to Jamaica Beach (watch your speed in this little hamlet!), just minutes away from the hustle, bustle and crowds of Galveston's central area. The units are spacious and clean, and when we had maintenance issues, Greg and his team made sure they were addressed immediately.

Stay away from the sales staff. They are a different breed and will only pretend to listen to you if they think they can sell you a timeshare.

When we visited over Memorial Day weekend, there was a lot of seaweed coming ashore but that's a good thing to help build the beaches and create a protective barrier between the water and the land. We found a nice little pocket park next to Woody's on the drive into town, and we really enjoyed going swimming where the seaweed was pushed away from the water's edge as much as possible.

All the beaches had seaweed to some degree, but there were ways to have fun without letting the seaweed get you down. I just wish more people would throw their trash into the many available trash barrels instead of littering the beaches. How thoughtless and rude!

We were thrilled to learn we could bring along our dog for a non-refundable $100 fee and have him stay with us at the resort. There were lots of other really nice guests and their pets, so we had some very pleasant chats while walking our pup. We were also able to bring our dog to the beaches with us, and he had a ball chasing waves, rolling in seaweed and sand, swimming with us, and trying to play with the little sand crabs. He never did understand why those little crabs would crawl into the sand instead of playing with him!

The resort offers board games, movies, miniature golf, swimming, tennis, playground, and other activities. They also have an alligator habitat next door to the resort, but we didn't see any gators after our first day. It was far enough away from the main part of the resort that safety was never a concern for us.

The gift shop/restaurant is more of a joke than a serious business. They offer beach toys, t-shirts and candles. The food menu has 4 items, and the ice cream case was nearly empty when we stopped by for lunch. There were only 3 items in there several days after the holiday rush was over. Too bad they didn't want to restock!

The beds were VERY comfortable, especially for my disabled husband and all his back pain issues. Too bad the pillows are tiny and soggy. We would have needed to pile 10-12 pillows to get enough back support to watch TV in bed, so we used sofa pillows, which were slightly more effective.

I would have given the resort 5 stars, but we had some issues with noisy neighbors because the units are not as soundproof as they might be. We could hear doors slamming below us, and chatter when people got too loud. Fortunately, they did quiet down around 11 PM so we never had to formally complain about the noise. I also saw some exposed rusty rebar in a place where someone could have been seriously injured if they caught their foot on it, but the employees I mentioned this to didn't care because they were only interested in selling us a timeshare deed.

All in all, this was one of our best vacations in Galveston and we highly recommend staying here if you want to get away from the crush of traffic but be close enough to enjoy all that Galveston has to offer.

Room Tip: Check in on a Saturday and ask for a 2 BR unit with a washer/dryer in the unit, but bring your own l...

Pros:The lodgings are great. The rooms are clean and roomy of course. The private beach access across the street is very nice and convenient. They had some fun family activities going on that we enjoyed. The pool, hot tub, basketball court, and putt put are great BUT

CONS:It's a 15-20 minute drive into Galveston. There are not any good eating places or grocery stores close by. Everything seems miniature. It was very busy, but the cafe on site to eat at is tiny. The wait for our food was ridiculous. There is not very much room to play games inside or just sit and eat if it's very busy at all. We've stayed at other Silverleaf locations and it seems odd they built the Galveston one so small.
Overall it's a nice place though and hopefully they expand their amenities before bringing in more people.

The resort was beautiful. The onsite activities were great, mini golf, basket ball, shuffle board, tennis, a pool (but it was too cold first week of April). We wish they would have had a heated pool with hot tub. The staff was so friendly, every time someone passed you they would say hi or offer to help. We stayed in the Ambassador units. The views from both sides of our unit was beautiful. The furnishings were very nice (brand new). We enjoyed being about 15 miles from Galveston, however if you want to be in the hustle and bustle of everything, you will need a car to drive into town. Very Satisfied! Loved this resort! I wouldn't recommend attending the timeshare tour. We waited 45 minutes to get in to start the tour. The 90 minutes started after the 45 minute wait. We asked what was taking so long and were told they had to check information on us. Maybe that could have been done ahead of time?? Everyone in the room was waiting the same amount of time. We could see the sales people just waiting on the deck to get the go ahead to come get us. Why make everyone wait? Not holding that experience against this awesome resort though!

Seaside resort is one of my favorite places to stay in the Galveston area. It is about fifteen minutes from East beach, in Jamaica Beach (West beach), which is one of the reasons that I love it. Far enough away from the crazy crowds of East beach in the summer, but close enough to experience the activities of The Strand, Moody Gardens and any of the other fun things to do in Galveston. The resort itself is beautiful, clean and small enough to experience a quality of service that is very rare! Seaside's beach is my favorite beach. They always drag it, so it is always clean and free of seaweed and other things year round. The many amenities are also a bonus if you have children to entertain. I would definitely recommend this property for a relaxing, fun family vacation or even a romantic getaway for two.

We stayed in the Presidential units of the Silverleaf Seaside Resort over Christmas week. The condo itself was fine and the staff was extremely accommodating. We had an issue in our master bath and they took care of it within about an hour. It was pretty quiet around the resort grounds; I don't think many of the rooms were reserved. But, you can hear guests above and/or below your unit (TV, conversation, thumping around) but we weren't in the room that much so we only noticed it a couple of times. The beach is across the highway from the resort and our condo was at the back of the property so it was definitely not within walking distance. If you plan to spend most of your time at the beach this is a perfect place but we had to go into town every day for different events, with about a 30 minute round trip each time. Would probably stay closer to town next time.

Room Tip: The Presidential units have elevators. I didn't see any on the buildings elsewhere on the proper...

Same accommodation as in any other Silverleaf Resort... Clean, quiet and relaxing.
Seaside Resort is not in Galveston, but in Jamaica Beach area.
About 10-15 miles away from main island attractions (ie. Moody Gardens)

Views from presidential units aren't great, since all you see is "swamp-like" or flooded lots. Coastal area is about 1/2 to 1 mile away...
