“AWESOME LAST MINUTE DEAL!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

A group of 7 of us went, and boy were we NOT disappointed. We booked for June, at the last minute, and the owner of the specific Condo we stayed in (#301) gave us the deal of our lives. Not only that, the condo, and balcony, "bay side view" was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!

Cons:
It's kind of far from SeaWall, and they could use some general maintenance on the property. Mosquitos were TERRIBLE and SEAWEED HORRIBLE when we went, but not a Pointe West issue.

Overall, it was AWESOME!

I love it here! It is a refreashing beautiful part of Galveston, Texas! It is a nice get away from the big hotels with more amenities. I have been here twice and plan to go back with my new family. The pools, kayaking, and golf carts to get around add to the resort. If you frequent Galveston you need to try Pointe West.

What a charming condo. It's light & airy, & very family friendly, we have 2 boys < 12. Their room was very comfortable, having lights over their beds was fun when they were reading & playing video games. The kitchen was well stocked & very clean, perfectly sized for my spouse & I to make quick meals in. And yea for the coffee maker to get my husband going in the a.m. The balcony is AMAZING. We ate most of our meals outside, wonderful adirondack patio furniture, & outstanding views across the dunes to the beach, especially when the full moon reflected on the water. It was so neat having balcony access from the master as well, & what you see in the pics is definitely what you get. We've never been that far down the beach f/ Galveston. It will take ~ 30 min without traffic to get from the tourist section of Galveston to this location. I think it was the Seven Seas grocery store, by the Sand 'N Sea property co, that we bought all of our groceries from. It's a full grocery store, with a pretty nice wine selection, and fresh produce, deli, souvenirs and beach toys. There are 2 main pool locations. The smaller pool with the lazy river is further down San Luis Pass, ~ 2 min drive by car or golf cart, and the lazy river is really small, but we still had great fun. The larger pool is at the main location, no lazy river here, but awesome infinity edge. Don't forget, you'll want to ask if you are bay side or beach side, we spent most of our pool time at the main location. The Beach Club restaurant and entertainment center/game room is not operational right now, the entire property complex is bouncing back from a foreclosure, all of the owners have banded together to save this location which is such a good thing. The pool grounds could use a little TLC, but still clean and fun. Covered parking is awesome, something you take for granted unless you're used to TX summer heat. It's also nice to have keyless entry, you don't want to have take your keys to the beach and pool, nice touch. If you are not able to snag this property for your stay, make sure you ask any other location if you have views of the beach, I'm so glad we had those views every day. It sure made a lazy awakening nice! We were there for the 4th of July, and saw fireworks every direction we turned, for HOURS. That was so much fun. Definitely agree with another reviewer, bring mosquito repellant, and make sure it's not wimpy
;-) The gift shop owner was so sweet, and even prices her ice creams so with tax it evens out to $1 to make it easy for the kiddos. Find out early when the kids activities are, or you may sleep in and miss them! Go to the Seven Seas grocery store on your way in (it's only about 10 min f/ the property) and buy staple items and snacks for your fridge. If you're eating out, do it before 8:00 pm, local establishments close early on this end of the island. Don't make extensive plans for Moody Gardens or Schlitterbahn, it's a 30 min 1 way commute there. The owners were friendly, and able to accomodate our almost last minute vacay plans. We got our deposit back without any hassle and in a very timely manner. 4 stars ONLY b/c the ceiling fans and vents need dusting, we have bad allergies--but we would stay here again and recommend it to all!

Room Tip: Stay beach side with views, instead of bayside, you'll be closer to the main pool.

Outstanding in every way

Review Submitted June 15, 2012 Date of Stay June 13, 2012

Stayed 3 nights with my 12 yr son, 13 yr old daughter, & her friend. The condo is immaculate and perfectly appointed. All you need bring is food & drink. The resort is awesome, with great proximity to the private beach, Beach Club, etc. the biggest problem we had was trying to pack too much into each day. Owners were very responsive & extraordinarily accommodating. We had a text conversation going throughout our stay, & he patiently & helpfully answered any & all questions (thanks for the recommendation of The Waterman's restaurant, David!). One of the cool things that was unexpected are the TVs....they have the clearest picture I've ever seen. You know they're special to take my eyes of the view of the beach just out the window. I'm getting one of the TVs AND one of the zero gravity recliners. Things are quiet out here on the west end, which suits me fine. Too much silliness when you're closer in to sea wall. We plan to be back & see no reason to stay anywhere else. Thanks for a perfect weekend!

We booked a week on VRBO in a 3 bedroom unit called Lazy Days. Not being too familiar with that side of the island and a little worried it was too far from Galveston we booked anyways. Wow were we glad we did... A perfect buffer from the Galveston crowds and yet only about 20 minutes to all the action. Lazy Days was a beautiful unit that slept all 7 of us comfortably and was only about one building over from the pool and beach club area. Well furnished and very clean with a great view of the water. Now that this area has recovered from Hurricane Ike it is headed in the right direction and a great place for families.

Our group of eight people stayed here for 3 days in the middle of the week this July. I was apprehensive because of the comments about the closed pools and grills, however, we had a fantastic time and would like to go back. The best part of our stay was the condo named Sea Lantro, which we rented through VRBO. The owner was prompt, very accommodating and the condo met our needs perfectly. I am a clean freak and found the condo exceptionally clean and comfortable. The owners have furnished the condo very tastefully and it felt like home. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to make great meals. The views from this particular condo are fantastic and very peaceful. We found the community very quiet and not at all crowded. It is some distance from the main part of the island, which is nice if you want to get away to the beach or pool. However, bring plenty of groceries and supplies, as it is a good 20-30 minute drive to grocery stores and Wal-mart, etc. There are a few restaurants On the west end of the island, including Waterman's (which I highly recommend). Most of the action is on the main part of the island. The west end is great for families with small children or those just wanting to get away to peace and quiet! The pools are clean and nice and the beaches are fairly clean, although the water is very turbid as it is everywhere on Galveston. Several in our party were stung by jellyfish, so beware. Also, the Mosquitos are active right now, so bug spray is necessary, especially around the bay. The grill at the beach club is closed, and we only noticed the gift shop open once during regular business hours. We recommend signing up for one of the cabanas and the grill ( at the welcome center)! We hope Pointe West survives.

Room Tip: sea Lantro was the perfect place to stay. Rented through VRBO.

We just returned from 4 nights in a condo at Pointe West, and we loved it!
Pros:
~ The pools are opened, and they are beautiful and very clean. There are activities by the pool for the kids (crafts) and snacks (snowcones, popcorn, etc.) on weekends. The gift shop is opened and nice to have around. The staff was very nice, friendly, and helpful.
~ The beach is cleaned daily, so while there is still some seaweed, it is MUCH BETTER than in places without this service.
~ I believe the beach and pool are also sprayed for mosquitos b/c they were not bad in either location. They were terrible as we walked to and from our condo to these locations, but there's only so much you can do about that.
~ Our condo was excellent! Incredibly clean, wonderfully stocked, and located within an easy walk to beach and beach club. We rented Relax Station through www.beachballsandbuckets(dot)com, and it was amazing!
Donna was so easy to work with, great at communicating, and very helpful.
~ We NEVER heard noise from our neighbors, so the condos must be well insulated.

Cons:
~ The elevators in the condos are unreliable. Once the weekend crowds arrived, the elevator never worked. Since we were on the first floor, it wasn't too bad, but we still had to figure out how to get a double stroller and two babies down a flight of stairs. If you are on a high level floor, I can imagine this would be a big problem.
~ You are far from Galveston. If you have great weather, that won't matter. I enjoyed being away from the crowds most of the time, but when we couldn't go to the beach or pool b/c of rain, it would have been nice to be closer to some indoor attractions.

All in all, we loved the condo and the resort and will stay again.

Room Tip: Look for condos or houses close to the beach club. I would specifically ask how long it takes to wal...
