This hotel is undergoing major renovation to become a part of the Hilton brand. Our room overlooked the Gulf (across the road). The carpet and all furnishings were brand new. Despite ongoing construction we enjoyed our stay and the staff was exceptionally helpful. They provided a parking place, for a small fee, and transportation to the cruise ship terminal. I would definitely stay here again. It is close to a wide variety of dining and entertainment venues. WIFI was free and very fast.

Room Tip: Ocean side is definitely better.

The hotel room was perfect (with the exception of no tub) but that's just a personal preference.
There was a lot of renovation happening so that was a bit noisy. Although it was too cool to swim the pool area was awesome. Hopefully this summer I can get back there to enjoy. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: All the rooms looked like they faced the beach, try to get on the upper levels so you can enjoy the...

Wish we cold have had some warmer weather for you! New heaters were just installed in Long Boards and the pool will definitely be the place to relax and enjoy a beverage at our swim up bar. Make your reservations early for the spring and summer season! We hope to see you again soon!

The hotel has good location, room was nice, no bathtub, shower only. Halls were raw, under construction, no carpet. Workers all over the place, one elevator. Check in was fast, staff friendly. The place was not that clean due to construction. I had a great view of the beach which is located directly across the street. The bottom line is that the hotel will be very nice once construction is complete

The Galveston Beach Hotel is in the midst of a change of ownership and remodel. I was a guest there for a wedding and the room was sufficient. The staff was very friendly, and I did feel safe at all times. The view from their outdoor bar was beautiful. I believe once their renovations are complete this will be an excellent choice for a visitor to Galveston. Also the hotel is centrally located if you do not have access to a car during your stay.

My husband and I stayed at the Galveston Beach Hotel on November 7th and 8th, 2014. We really enjoyed our stay. We had stayed in the hotel before, when it was a Holiday Inn and had wondered about the hotel now that it was independent. We were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is undergoing renovation and will soon be a Doubletree property (completion February 2015) and will be even nicer. We especially appreciated the helpfulness of all the employees. Everyone was upbeat and eager to please. One employee, Daryl, was especially helpful, with both luggage and information. We stayed in the part of the hotel that had not yet been renovated, our room was older, but very comfortable. Our window faced the beach, gorgeous view. The location is great with easy access to all parts of the island. We will definitely make this our place to stay whenever we visit Galveston, which is quite often.

Room Tip: All rooms face the beach, might ask to be away from the pool bar if you have kids.

My Wife and I were on our 2nd wedding anniversary and never had a honey moon so we officially have made our stay at the Galveston Beach Hotel our Honey Moon Stay!!

Where to begin? The People were beyond great! Zach in the restaurant for breakfast took time to give us a history lesson of the Hotel, the strip and the Island. We learned so much about the history there it gave us a sense of belonging.

Maria at the front desk greeted us every time we went in and out. She is an island native and a super sweet girl, It says a lot when you have people from there wanting to work there.

Teresa was the food and beverage manager and she was helpful. Cherish worked out at the pool restaurant bar and she was awesome and helpful. We didn't really start keeping track of names until the 2nd of our 3 day stay because as the trip progressed we started to realize this place and this trip were becoming memorable and special.

I don't think I would ever go anywhere else unless I was getting a condo and staying a week. The Galveston Beach Hotel soon to be the Hilton Doubletree is by far the hotel that gives you the best sense of being on the beach. The Ocean is just huge out your window and balcony from every room. The pool and Longboard are gorgeous and clean.

a previous review pointed out that If you don't want to feel like you are in the middle of the action then stay on the West side of the hotel 3rd story and above. If you want the "atmosphere" of an Island getaway then stay on the East side above the pool!

The strip had so much action, so much to do, so many great places to eat. We ventured out everyday, but we were always glad to come home to the Galveston Beach Hotel/ Doubletree!!

I could go on and on.....I really could. This is one of the best overall experiences I have ever had and I have traveled to luxury hotels extensively with m work. I Can't wait to go back to the Galveston Beach Hotel/ Doubletree!!

Room Tip: Again East Side If you like the music at the pool lounge or West side if not!!

I read the reviews here on TripAdvisor before our stay. We had limited choices on where to stay due to late notice and a wedding but when push came to shove, my first experience with them was a gem. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with the Hotel Galvez (the place to stay on the Seawall) and was yelled at and spoken to like a child. They were not interested in helping me but rather just getting my card info. It took less than 180 seconds on the phone with the GBH to get a reservation, with a confirmation # and a pleasant person on the other end of the phone. That phone call gave me a little confidence to brush off some of the subpar reviews on here. The GBH has a lot of potential, hence the renovations. Oddly, the renovations never got in our way. Quick note, we did not eat on site as it was only open for breakfast and they didn't really push it. There were so many other options in walking distance so we chose to branch out. Side Note : GO TO THE FARLEY GIRLS CAFE!
Quick hits:
The AC unit worked, but ours rattled like a snake in the grass surrounded by predators
The bed was large and very comfortable, the bedding was nice as well.
The bathroom was pleasant, shower had good pressure, space and ample towels. The lights in the bathroom weren't very bright though.
The windows seems to be have been recently replaced. The door seals and the AC seals were noticeable tended to recently with rather average patchwork, but with renovations looming I can understand that.
The TV setup was great, real DirecTV and a mini - fridge was a nice touch.
The patios that face the ocean are great, but you can roast in the sun if youre not careful.
The pool is really nice and the swim up bar is a cool thing. The bar does stay open rather late and if you like bass and music request to be placed on the second or first floor. If you value sleep and rest and go to bed sober and before 11pm, request the 3rd floor or higher.
The staff was very nice and made up for the atmosphere.
The cucumber water sucked, abandon that poopy water quick.
All in all, it wasn't horrible and we had a good time. It had great views and a party lively atmosphere that most folks could bear, some couldn't. If you are *bichy* (take that auto proof for profanity), rude, egotistical and judgmental, take you attitude to a different hotel, because it would only be youre own fault to stay at a work in progress. If you have a go with the flow attitude and like to party, give it a go. Tribal tattoos optional.

Room Tip: 3rd floor or higher on the non pool side for peaceful nights. if youre all about that bass, bout t...
