We stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Galveston on 12/29/12 and 12/30/12. The facility is very nice, clean, updated and our room was nice, but the staff needs major retraining in customer service! The day shift front desk staff (blonde hair, young lady) did not respond to our concerns over smoking on the balconies by other guests. There is a strict policy on smoking in this facility to include the balcony area which is one reason we chose to stay here. When the lady in the adjoining room began smoking on her balcony we contacted the front desk clerk and requested she take care of this. She seemed reluctant to take action. Only after a second request an hour later, informing her we could not tolerate smoke and reminding her of the facility smoking policy, did she do anything. The second night of our stay was miserable as we got not sleep due to loudly partying guests in adjacent rooms and in the hallway. We contacted the night shift manager (lady) and was told someone would investigate. We never heard anyone come to check and the loud noise continued until 3:00 a.m. After an hour wait, we called back and she rudely stated, "what do you want me to do about it, I can't stop it!" When I requested the manager's contact info the next a.m. the young, blonde female desk staff was reluctant to provide this and made a comment in reference that since we were Priority Club guests, and not paying guests, we shouldn't be complaining. I also mention there were two other guests checking out that also complained about loud noise occurring all night and no one responding to their requests either. We contacted the Priority Club upon returning home, they sincerely apologized and we were told they had forwarded this to the hotel manager and owner and they would be in contact with us They never contacted us. I assume it is because of the staff's attitude that Priority Club Members don't have the same rights as other guests. We have always been very pleased with Holiday Inns but due to lack of concern for their guests comfort, we would not recommend this Holiday Inn to anyone. We are still wondering why managment cared so little as to not even offer an apology.

My Husband and I stayed here for our wedding night after being re routed by the Hotel Galvez for being overbooked, they comped our room for the night and the parking for the week we would be on a cruise!

Great staff at check in, and with all our questions. Supremely comfortable King room with a real view of the Gulf. Even though we stayed during a rain storm, everything was in good shape. Debbie on days was a hoot, great attitude and always helpful. I forgot the name of the woman who checked us in the first evening, she was outstanding in discussing rates, and signing us in as walk-ins. One complaint: only one guest washer and dryer in the whole hotel.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort Galveston Beach mid December the night before we boarded for a week long cruise. We checked out and went to the cruise terminal; at that time our daughter realized she left an earing at the hotel. I called the front desk, where they checked with housekeeping. Housekeeping checked the room and promptly called me back with news that they found the earing. The hotel kept it for the week. Upon returning from the cruise, we went by the hotel and they had the earing for us. We were extremly pleased with the service and generosity the hotel provided.
