“Good hotel, great for families.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013 via mobile

This hotel is set a few miles west of downtown and sits about 100 yards from the beach. It is setup like a condominium. There are two elevators, one for each wing, and checkin is in an office on the first floor, kind of in the middle if the building.
There is some renovation going on in the hotel, but for other than a few hours during our 4 day trip, it was unnoticeable.
We stayed in a deluxe 1 bedroom. There are 3 types of rooms, 1 bedroom standard, 1 bedroom deluxe, and a 2 bedroom. The standard is smaller and has a shared washer and dryer. The deluxe is fairly large, with about everything you could hope for.. Full kitchen, bath, living room, and a separate master bedroom.
We took our 1 year old daughter, and had a great time.

9/12-9/15 ---Great room! Staff wa excellent, especially Lazy. Excellent view. There are many hotels along side Sealwall; however, very few have direct access to the beach. This fact makes it fantastic. There is construction of new homes next to the property which can be a bit noisy. The bed---although they are advertised as queen size...they're more like a full-size. If you wish to have a better sleep gey a King size. Overall it was a wonderful few days. Great weather. Wanda T - Austin

3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

My husband and I very recently stayed one night at the Galveston Beach Resort for a last minute romantic trip. The property is very easy to find and is past the Seawall, before you reach Jamaica Beach. The property is shaped like a large "U", so most rooms should have some type of beach view. Parking and elevators (one on each wing) are on the ground floor. Hotel check-in and the pool area and beach access are on the 1st floor. There were construction workers actively working on the hotel during our stay.

We stayed in a Queen-size bedroom suite. The room shared a foyer area with the neighboring room and had a washer and dryer for use. Inside we found our hotel room was relatively clean (minus some long hairs that I found in our bedding and bathroom) and appears to have been recently renovated with fresh paint and new furnishings. The Queen-size room was a decent size and fine for our stay. The kitchen had a fridge, small dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven and 2-burner stove top. There was not an oven, but we made do with the toaster oven. There were basic plates, dishes and utensils available. The bathroom was very standard, and the bedroom was a nice size and carpeted, but did not have a window. There was a very small balcony that only fit 2 chairs and a small table. We were in the inner corner of the "U" shape of the building, so had a clear view of the pool area and a partial view of the beach from one angle. Larger rooms and suites had larger patios.

The pool area was gorgeous and appeared to be well-maintained, although we did not use these facilities. We especially enjoyed the beach access. That area of Galveston beach is not crowded like other beaches, so it feels a lot more private and it is nice to walk back to your hotel, rinse off, and then be able to go straight to your room.

Unfortunately there were some negative aspects of our stay that we wish to share. Hotel check-in was at 4 pm. We arrived early at 3:30 pm and were told the room was not ready. So we filled out the paper work, paid our deposit and were told they would call us when the room was ready. We explored the island more and still had not heard anything from the hotel after 5 pm. My husband eventually called the hotel and was told "oh sorry, yes your room is ready." I wonder how long it would have taken to hear from them? My husband went back to the check-in, where the front desk lady did not remember him from earlier and tried to have him fill out paperwork again. He received the room key cards and we went to our room on the 5th floor- only to find the key cards did not work for our room. So then he had to go back to the front desk to get new cards. We were not able to access our room until 5:30 pm, and since check out is at 10 am, we did not feel we had a lot of time in the room for our one night stay.

The hotel only has one elevator on each wing, and so it takes a long time to wait to use it, and was also being used by the construction workers during our trip. My husband ended up just using the stairs even though we were on the 5th floor because it was faster. Saturday morning I was awoken before 8 am by construction noise that sounded to be only a few rooms away. We later heard a construction worker admonishing a fellow worker not to start until after 10 am.

Our last issue was with the overall comfort of the room. When we first entered the room was warm, so we set the thermostat at the coldest level. The air conditioner never turned off. When we set it just a tad warmer, the AC would never turn back on, thus we were stuck in either having the room very cold or rather humid and warm. Our queen sized mattress seemed to be flattened/leaning on one side, so my husband was not able to sleep well and felt like he was going to slide off the bed all night.

We were very hopeful for our stay as this property has very good reviews overall. We have a hard time deciding whether or not we would stay at this hotel again in the future.

This hotel is about 2 miles from the seawall in Galveston. It is on the actual beach with access from the 1st floor. Since it is a vacation club property it has 1 queen bedroom, LR , with kitchenette, no stove. Very clean and nice. Smallest balcony I have even seen, cannot really enjoy sitting outside due to size. Pool is nice but small. We were in off season, so not a problem. Very nice staff with great little store to buy food or small items, beach items. We are accustomed to white sand beaches of Florida, so a little disappointed in beach and the many mosquitos we encountered but overall enjoyed our stay. Also a shared washer and dryer in hall. Got back 1 night and the fire alarm was going off, fire trucks came and after about an hr gave an all clear. Staff was great through this! Thanks for keeping us safe!

Last beach trip for the season.
More than we expected!! Full kitchen, dishes, nice table seats 4, dishwasher, washer & dryer in room, large bathroom with jacuzzi tub with separate shower, nicely furnished.... with side beach view even from our room 21W which is near the front of the hotel. The pool & pool area was great. The front office even has a mini store where you can buy quick snacks or even frozen pizza for a fast last minute dinner. Only down fall is you must check out by 10am to get the room ready for the next guest. You can still hang out pool side or @ the beach for the rest of the day.

My husband and I had a great experience. The room was clean and the staff was very helpful. We had a one bedroom with a little tiny balcony, but enjoyed the pool and access to the beach. Our overall experience was excellent and we will vacation at this resort again.

The view from our room was absolutely gorgeous. Our AC quit working because I turned off a switch I thought was a light switch. A very polite maintenance man came to our room at 9:00 pm and got the unit going again. Very efficient and friendly. The hotel staff were all great.
