“Nice place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

We stayed here for 3 nights in May 2013. The hotel itself was very nice and we loved having a kitchen. It makes traveling with small children much easier!

We liked the location right on the beach and the pool was nice. It was just a short drive from the Seawall area.

We would definitely stay at this hotel again. I also wanted to comment that every single staff member we ran into was so nice and helpful!

My wife booked this resort and I was weary at first. When we arrived on July 10th I was relatively surprised. The resort is off the Seawall hustle & bustle which was enjoyable. The resort was clean around the grounds and we were informed that some construction was going on during our stay. We did not hear any construction and only saw some workers and a construction trash bin. The check-in was smooth and the pool is off the office on the 1st floor (not garage level or ground floor). We knew about the 4 pm check-in which is late in my opinion but we were requested earlier and we got it. Room was clean and spacious for the 3 of us. Location is on the beach side and I enjoyed walking the beach. This was a pleasant stay and I would return.

Room Tip: Try to get view of beach or side of hotel away from pool. No restaurants on property either.

My daughter sent us on vacation using her timeshare privileges in Galveston for my 70th birthday. We were there from June 2 to the 9th and really liked it. We used the pool every day and sat on the balcony overlooking the pool and the ocean in the mornings. The accommodations were very comfortable and there are no complaints at all. This resort is a little outside of town but that was a plus! Quiet, peaceful. The beach area around Galveston was full of dried seaweed but they were starting to clean some of that up as we were leaving. We would highly recommend this resort.

Room Tip: This resort did not have a restaurant but there are many not far away

Visited this property with friends -- all of use can't wait to come back and bring our respective children which range in age from 3 - 20. For this trip, we stayed in a 2-bedroom. Our 2-bedroom had an unobstructed beach view which could be accessed either the Master Bedroom (through door), living Area (sliding door), or 2nd bedroom (door).

Arrival: Like all beach properties in galveston, for flood insurance, you have to build on the 2nd floor... so, you park on floor 1 and walk up the stairs or take the elevator to the 2nd floor (which is called 1)... :) We had very friendly attendants for our check-in.

About the Facility:
Has a resort feel: e.g. They have afternoon crafts and a movie nights
They have a room where you can check our games (yahtee, cards, etc) + books + Movies
They also have a "store" - you can get adult or children's beverages + snacks, etc.

Why here and not somewhere else ?
Well, if you are going just for the beach, you cannot beat it this property's location - it almost feels like a private beach - not overly crowded like it is by the seawall. Just go search a map for properties and you can see where everything is crowded - you'll not feel that here! The property surrounded by private homes/rentals - not a lot of noice. This is a few miles down from the Seawall, away from all the activity - If you are in your wanting to be close to crowds, restaurants, souvenir places, this is not your place. This is down a ways- which was perfect for me. i didn't need to be around Pleasure Pier or restaurants b/c we could just get in the car and drive down there... I would rather have a beach nearby. It's proximity is its biggest asset in my estimation! The beach right there - you just walk down the pier and there you are!

Room
Washer, Dryer, D/W, Stove, Microwave, Oven, plates, cookware, Silverware, coffemaker Automatic Ice Maker in Fridge, Iron, hair Dryers, shampoo - alll the conveniences of a normal hotel. Don't expect housekeeping though. In this aspect, it doesn't operate like a normal hotel. If you want clean towels while you are there, or beds made, then you do it.

What you need to bring: coffeefilters, and your own food if you plan to cook and drinks. Nearby is a Wal-Mart. We also found a Randalls, and a Specs w/i driving distance where we purchased supplies. For the room, we purchased some dishsoap (didn't like what was there) + sponges to wash dishes with -- Really, not need to get anything else.

TV: There is a Tv + DVD Player in the Main Room. In the other rooms, there is a TV.

Bedrooms are both full-size, plus there is a pull-our couch. (in our 2-bedroom)
Bathrooms - In master, there is a large bathtub + a shower. you can access the bathroom from living room and bedroom.
In the 2nd bedroom, there was a combo tub/shower

Pool - very clean! The pool is beautiful infinity pool. (bring your own towels) The beach is literally right down the walkway. The Hot tub is adjacent to the pool. Lounge chairs - around the pool, plentiful, but you'll need to bring/rent your own for the beach. If you don't want to bring your beach chairs, then someone is selling chairs and umbrellas, so you could just show up :)

Safety - We saw policemen (on horses) patrolling the area. I felt very safe.
Cleanliness of beach - Thought this was really a clean beach. There is some seaweed, but someone maintains it area and keeps it clean.

We had a great time - I would definitely recommend this property-- unless you have no transportation and want to go out to eat and down to pleasure pier, etc... Rent the 2 bedroom for your family! It's perfect for all - I'll be going back !

My family (kids age 8, 11) truly enjoyed the Galveston Beach Resort. We stayed Tues-Sat during early June 2013. The staff was incredible and very helpful. There was remodeling going on during the day (10A-4P), but we were outside exploring the beach, pool or Galveston strip during this time any way. The room was more than I expected with a 'full' kitchenette, separate bedroom, full bath, fold out sleeper and small balcony with a view of the Gulf. The a/c worked great. There was a washer/dryer that was between our room and the adjacent room. There was no restaurant on site. The resort is a few miles from the strip - which we enjoyed. We look forward to returning to this resort next summer.

Room Tip: book in advance

We chose this property due to its location and high reviews posted all over the web. This property is located a few miles down from the Seawall, away from all the hustle and bustle. If you want to relax and unwind, this place is great. However, please understand, this is a TIME SHARE. Therefore, it does not operate like a regular hotel. There are NO services! You will not receive housekeeping of ANY KIND during your stay. If you want clean towels, you will have to wash them yourself. Granted, they do provide you with 2 boxes of laundry soap and a washer/dryer unit shared with the room next to you. If you want food, you are on your own, as well. The hotel is approximately 1.5 miles from the nearest Wal-Mart or Kroger and restaurants on Seawall.

We booked the 1-bedroom Queen suite for us and our 8 year old son. This suite was adequate, but none of the pics online show what this room type is actually like. This suite was quite small in comparison to the other suites depicted. The kitchen was a small galley kitchen with no oven. Our sink had one bin and rattled like it was about to take off every time we turned it on. I was disappointed, to say the least, especially after all the other pics showed a full kitchen with range/oven. If space is a concern, pay the extra money and book the larger suite. Our bathroom was small, as well. It had a shower/tub combo and a small sink with absolutely NO counter space. Our bedroom was nice. It appeared to have new carpet and fresh paint. The bed was comfy and the closet had an in-room safe. I like that! Last, the cable TV did not offer any premium channels (HBO, Showtime, etc).

The absolute best thing about this property is the pool area and the vicinity to the beach. This is where we feel we got our money's worth. The pool was beautiful, well-kept, and not too crowded. The beach is literally steps away. You can cross over the walkway and be there in minutes. Bring your own chairs and equipment, including towels. The hotel does not provide beach towels-only pool towels. We spent a great deal of time between the two, and I must say, it was wonderful. The beach is not private, but it had a private feel, especially if you see the public beach activity.

We definitely plan to return to this location. We just plan to pay the extra money and book the larger suite. It's a great place to go, as long as you understand the concept of what this place is.

Room Tip: Pay the extra money and get the larger suite! Your balcony will be bigger, too.

Hello and welcome home from your recent vacation stay with us. We always love to hear from our guests how they spent their getaways with us. You are correct that we are a timeshare property, and that there are some differences when you stay with us. You are correct that there no traditional daily housekeeping like in a hotel, however housekeeping services are always available on demand. We’re happy to hear that you enjoyed the quiet and tranquility that our resort has to offer. You couldn’t give us any higher compliment than a return stay and we hope to see you again soon.

Stroll to the beach down a boardwalk past sand dunes for a relaxing escape instead of crossing a busy thoroughfare and passing a concrete sea wall with crowds of vacationers. The biggest drawback is that it is a bit of a drive from the hub of activity and restaurants, is also its biggest asset.
