“Old train terminal”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

This was the old train station. Limited exhibits inside, but did not explore the outside exhibits due to time constraints.

“A step back in time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

Adults and kids enjoyed our visit there. Its was badly hit by IKE so they had lots of photos of the damage done - it was all very interesting.

“Well worth the visit!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

The nominal fee was well worth the money to peruse what's left of the museum's collection. It's a shame the museum lost so much of its holdings during the 2008 hurricane. While the items they have currently are interesting, according to the literature, they had so much more!

We saw a set-up of model trains, life-sized figures of passengers in the station (people liked posing with them), dining car china and most fascinating for us, we walked inside some of the trains (rolling stock) in the yard. You get a great, 3-D sense of what train travel, and life, was like in the past.

Eight feet of water destroyed a lot of the artifacts and damaged the trains but hopefully, they can continue to restore. After your tour, walk down the Strand and get a bite to eat or do some shopping! It's a great multi-block area to explore.

“Great for kids of all Ages”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

They are still recovering from Ike like most places but the trains were fun to tour. They are about done with the miniature train and China display building but you are able to tour it.

“ol' South Trains”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

The variety of trains, cars and memorability that is available to view is overwhelming. You must take your time to fully explore all aspects of this southern treasure. The old station is rich in architecture and each area has a story to tell. The adjacent buildings are chalked full of dishes to posters to model trains. The coaches are well preserved and the engines are just a wonder. For you train fans put this one on your must see list.
