“Awesome time at!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014 via mobile

Went to La Kings Confectionary for my sons 5th birthday. Had a lovely time. He wanted an orange ice cream soda and loved it. My oldest just wanted an orange soda and said it was also very good. My mother and I both had café mocha with a shot of expresso and it was the best we had ever had.

“Infrequent Taffy Demos, Tourist-trap Feel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

Overall this place was disappointing, but not terrible.

We brought our family because we wanted salt water taffy and they advertised that you can see them make the taffy right there. Well, we went over the weekend and apparently they weren't doing a demo until 4 PM! That was hours away and obviously this isn't something you really want to wait around for. So it's not like you can just show up at any time and expect to see them working their craft.

We got some assorted taffy in the little treasure box. Overall, it was not very good taffy. Just totally average.

We'll be trying another candy shop next time we go to Galveston.

“best candy shop ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2014

My favorite place on Galveston Island! Salt water taffy pulled while you watch, old-fashioned shakes, malts and ice cream scoops politely served, and hard-to-find retro candies. A must when visiting the island.

“Fun trip back to our childhood memories.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2014

Gorgeous woodwork and old fashioned setting throughout. The malteds were excellent. We have 14 grandchildren, so we bought $70+ of salt water taffy!! We wanted to give each family the complete assortment of flavors - Oh WOW! But so worth it!

“Olde tyme Candy and Ice Cream Parlour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2014

Ok, I know the title is a little corny. This place is like going back to the 50's. Well, maybe, I'm not quite that old. The Ice Cream is made there and it is good. The candy selection is awesome. My kids love the Grapefruit gummies. We almost always go there when we have friends with kids. They love it.
