“Great Dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2014

Stopped in for dinner during a visit to Galveston. We had seafood gumbo and the fish platter. The gumbo in particular was tasty and a good portion. Great wait staff.

“A very nice late lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2014

We spent the day at the beach. We used travel advisor to pick this place. The reviews were tight on.

The staff was top shelf. They were very nice and well informed. The portions were LARGE and we had plenty of food for a late dinner snack.

The food and staff are worth coming back for - very good time.

“Worth the drive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2014

we stayed on the west end but drove to try the gumbo. The food was very good. Our waitress made good suggestions and we all enjoyed the food. All were above average and the portions were generous. Barbequed oysters were very good.

“Very Unique”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2014

Our daughter will be attending college at UTMB so we decided to go where the locals go and this place was recommended for great Gumbo. The restaurant was small but the atmosphere was great and casual. You can eat at the bar or grab a table. The isles are narrow and you're sitting very close to people here. If you bring children I would recommend outside! They have a few tables outside at the street entrance. The Gumbo was fantastic and portion size was amazing. Great tasting garlic bread accompanies the meal. The shrimp po-boy was yummy. The fried tilapia fish plate was very tasty. Definitely get a wedge salad! All the desserts were great! I was told to get the bread pudding but chose the chocolate cake which was amazing. My daughter had the bread pudding it was ok...I've had better. Staff very very nice. We'll be back!

“Great Salads”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2014

Hit the Gumbo Bar this afternoon for one of their little know treasures.
Give one of their salads a try. Always fresh and the kicker is you can add their signature BBQ oysters or shrimp or even soft shell crabs.
They are off the beaten path but located in the strand area. On Post Office in the art section of downtown.
Staff is always on point, super polite and genuinely glad to see you.
